Is Naval Rank Progression bugged?

Well, I finally got promoted. I just kept doing random Federal missions, not caring about minor factions, and I finally got my rank missions. So Sugarat was right.

Sorry, but Faybs is incorrect (or rather, has obsolete information) about the blue bars. The blue bars are NOT your personal reputation or influence with that faction, they have nothing to do with their opinion of you at all. They are that faction's influence within the system. "Maxing out" the blue bar simply maxes the faction's influence. You can keep doing missions for a "maxed-out faction" and it still counts towards your promotion.

And yes, a rank-up progress counter has been announced for the 1.5 upgrade. Then, at least, the process will be more transparent and in-the-open and we can end these silly debates about "what counts and what doesn't" in terms of promotion gaining - as well as ending the constant complaints to FD and on the forums that rank progression must be bugged.

Ahhh, so that blue bar is for those playing with the BGS then. Thanks!

You know, I am kinda mad that there was never a proper tutorial on this kind of stuff. I don't actively post in the forums often, and there's hardly ever a player in-game for me to talk to, so I just have to rely on myself and the game as is to learn how to do things. :/

If what you say is true and it probably is because that would explain why the bars for factions have stopped moving for me. At first when I did missions and donated to charity they would go up but now no matter how much I donate or how many missions I do they won't budge. I have one faction that has been at 19 another at 1 and the last at 79 and they will not change.

I will not pay attention to the bars anymore and just keep doing missions till it eventually pops. Gratz on the promotion SansNoir.

Yeah, I think the minor factions are mostly for RP reasons, and maybe just to affect things like how well the stations do, whether or not the area will be safe, etc. For rank progression, it's just how many missions you do for your respective faction.

I don't know if this go's against what some of you guys are saying, but I've only done four fed mission and got promoted each time. I do loads of trade bulletin board mission and if I come across a naval mission that says I'll get promoted to the next rank I take it, if it shows the same rank I leave it and I never take multiple naval mission...
