Is no one else bothered by having to click between 'edit mode' and 'construction mode' now when building coasters?

While building a coaster in Planet Coaster 1 you could just click on and edit an existing piece of track, now have to click 'edit mode' to be able to select a piece of track. To me it's obvious that this is the result of the game being made for console and basically forced onto a PC game at the same time. Would be better if they fixed it so we can just an existing piece to edit it on PC, like in Planet Coaster 1.

It doesn't seem normal but I've kinda got used to doing it now. The thing that keeps grating for me is swapping from the Construction tab to go somewhere else just to change the angle snap then change back again. Not sure how others play but my angle snap on coasters is never permanently on or off I use and change it frequently in a single build. So I am always having to swap to a new tab just for that one click.

The UI is different in PC2. They made the Windows version cross compatible with Xbox and PS5, so the UI in the Windows version is more like a console version although they did address some things in December.

Yes very, i got 50 hours in and still am not used to it. Also my coasters get stuck on testing a lot of times and I have to close/reopen or edit a small part of the track and retest it for it to work again

For the stuck in testing, i most of the times have it on test rides. The reason is actually that the ride op got teleported to somewhere on the map, if you can find him drag him back and place them next to ride or you need to fast forward till he makes his way back, depending on the park this can take a while.

Now that i post i may got an idea of the reasoning: Do you have staff buildings? cause my testparks don't and this is the diffrence between career + sandbox (never happened) and testparks (regular happens)
