Is piracy a viable option?

not really...... it would be moot if everyone who played iron man did it with a view to giving it a proper go, but wont stop people who just make a new character, secondary to their main one, with a view to just playing it trying to find human players and trying to go on a killing spree before dieing, then once dead, delete, rinse and repeat.

this is not a mentality I "get" at all, but many people seem to get a kick out of this sort of thing.

Note I am not worried about genuine pirates playing ironman, and this isnt a rant or anything, the game is not out yet and FD may have something up their sleeve, but I AM quite interested in iron man - at least that is how i will start anyhow - I just am not sure how viable it will be.

I hadn't factored that in my thinking. It's all down to the alleged Einstein quote of "two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not at all convinced about the former"

I am tempted by the Ironman mode, as it does have high stakes if you invest in the character. It's a bit like a Realms Beyond Civilization game, where you don't save (unless you are turning the computer off) and play within certain limits.

You only have to look at the current crop of multiplayer "survival" games to see evidence of this behaviour, prime examples being DayZ and Rust. The mentality is shoot first, don't bother asking questions later. You could spend hours getting kit together only to be shot in the head by some bored player sitting on a roof 2 miles away.

I don't see anyone joining Ironman just to grief other players as any different to this really. And I don't see any way to stop it either. Ironman is what it is, live till you die.
