Is Planet Coaster compatible with Planet Zoo?

I think this is where there may be a crossover developing with PlanCo and PlanZoo... There are going to be common elements to both games as they are confirmed as being in the same Universe. We know that there are game features that are just not compatible with each other - presumably things like weather and occlusion detection, water dynamics, research and staff systems etc. But that said, there will be a whole host of things that will be compatible - presumably things like scenery pieces, staff exclusive paths etc.

Without knowing the specifics or technicals around these elements, I would hazard a guess that things like assets, building sets, bins and benches etc and maybe even the "new" rides we are seeing in PlanZoo would be easily transferrable between games and given the "same universe" theme it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility to see them dropped into PlanCo too. I'd not expect this to drop before PlanZoos release though - why on earth would they release assets built specifically for one game in another game before the intended one is released? But then I've said all this in previous posts, so I'm just repeating myself now.

Would I love them to surprise us and say "oh hey, we've found a way to make weather work in PlanCo while we were doing PlanZoo, so here you go"? Of course I would.. But let's be realistic, I think we won't see these sorts of enhancements until PlanCo2 if there is one.

Planet Coaster was by itself, so there wasn't anything to be compatible with.
Planet Coaster & Planet Zoo are close enough to have some compatibilities. I'm not asking to join the two games together, but just to be able to share scenery and building parts with each other. That's not a bad request to ask.

AaronTuckwell, Thank You. I'm glad someone understood what I was trying to say. And I agree, some things in PZ would not work in PC and vice-versa.

Yes i talked to the Community Managers about this. Maybe the Team will consider making that available for Planet Coaster. (by that i mean i hope they do) But we don't know.

I never asked for complete backwards compatibility, I just want to be able to share or swap building pieces. I know that there are things that have higher attributes, such as the water and rooms in PZ, but there's also common pieces such as walls and rocks that share the same attributes in PC. That's the stuff that could be shared between each other. That should not be too difficult to do.

I agree. even though its different platform/coding/whatever...i would think the scenery assets are just that...scenery assets. I would think creating the models in PC would be very easy. It would be like a DLC of all that new scenery that us PC folks could get our hands on. I should also add...they would reap a much higher profit margin on the work it took to create those assets as they could gain extra revenue by selling them 2x...once in PZ and again in PC as a DLC. I would pay up for them immediately. and the folks that just have one or the other they would see a gain in sales for those as well. it seems a win win for them to do this.

I think it opens a can of worms, and would receive a lot of flack from the flackies.
I’m sure the scenery from PZ would need recoded for PC, which is labor, so it would cost money. People who own both games would expect the PZ assets made available to PC for free.

the scenery from Planco1 would have to have some additional coding added for it to support animal climbing and weather effects, but theres really no reason why the Plazoo scenery would have to be recoded for Planco2

yea that doesnt seem like a good idea lol, if people already bought the spooky scenery in Planco1 theres no reason it should have to be repurchased for Planco2, or at least given at a discount for Plazoo players who would like spooky or adventure scenery

It shouldn't cost any extra money, except for buying PZ, if you already have PC. Your pc should be able to read the .filenames that are the same.
Heck, the user could go to the folders, and copy and paste the contents from one folder into the other game's similar folder. It's really not that difficult.

Please show me how, once Planet Zoo is released. Curious to see if you are able to.....

I already know the answer, but don't tell anybody I know that.

Are these files even freely available like they were in RCT3 to copy over? I always thought they were hidden and nested in some way? And even if they were, they still won't be magically compatible as they won't have any form of particle occlusions etc... and that's all assuming PlanZoo would even recognise these alien / non-native assets

Edit.. Actually, I think that's the point you're trying to make lol

It indeed sounds way to simple to be a success
