Is that a Northern England accent?

I popped into Fabian Dock in the Khampti System. I'm sure the flight controller's accent is from Northern England. Could be Yorkshire or Lancashire. Can anyone confirm? It's great if it is!

Reading this..

"Northern England accent"... i was expecting "is that a Geordie?"...NOPE

Apparently Newcastle has moved 90 miles+ south :p

But

You are correct, it does indeed sound like a Yorkshire accent from "hally" the female docking agent

Fly safe- If ye knaw whot wor means leek

If its the female voice - I think she's from somewhere N of Manchester - possible Rochdale or Oldham - as opposed to W.Yorks

Well, I'm from Stoke-on-Trent, so the North for me starts at about the same latitude as Manchester and ends once you cross over into Scotland. Basically anywhere where men wear flat-caps, eat Black Pudding, enjoy listening to brass bands and keep ferrets down their trousers!

IF its the one im thinking of it, the nearest accent it sounds like is Rochdale, Oldham area.

As a northerner from Lancashire it doesnt sound anything like my accent . Nor does it sound like a Manchester, Bolton, Preston, Liverpool or countless other towns in the north west.

Lisa Stansfield the singer has a classic Rochdale accent. look her up on youtube doing interviews.

Yeah if it's the one I thinking of this is correct. It's something like Preston, Bolton, or Wigan

I'm from Manchester and live in Blackpool and know the NW accents pretty well so colour me intrigued.
I'm going to hop over today and have a listen .

Listing to the clip below I'm sure she is northern but I'm also pretty sure she's laying it on thick for the recording.

Listening to the flight controller's voice again, it actually reminds me of Hilda Ogden, a character from Coronation Street (for those you may not know).

Watching that video from the Rovers Return just shows up how the writing has deteriorated in recent years in Corrie. Some of the lines in that scene are bitingly sharp. Especially Alec Gilroy being tight, and Hilda inferring that Vera is a scrubber.

Scrubber is british slang for a woman who is somewhat promiscuous.

That clip reminded me of Early Doors, one of the hidden gems of British comedy

Scrubber is still used all the time round here and it means the same as dosser which both mean poor and don't care about your appearance or how you act.

Yeah - there are all sorts of accents in Elite. I've heard northern english ones, but no distinctive southern ones (Cornwall, Norf Landan etc) - odd when you consider FD are in Cambridge (which has a default middle-England accent). I do notice how federation controllers tend to be American, Aussie and South African, empire either Asian or British and alliance somewhere from the EU. Neatly mirroring the geopolitical region the accent comes from with the faction that most closely represents it - which I think it quite clever. Also - the only cheekie one I've dealt with so far was Scottish and made some cutting remake about my use of a docking computer.
