Is the Asp worth it?

So I've a tool up cobra+Type 6 both with shields does anyone run the asp without shields just for the little extra trading or is that to dodgy? I'm thinking of selling the cobra (6mil) and to get the stock asp as i have about 2.5mil in the bank. but keeping the type 6 as backup.

IMHO and others confirmed, a "good" ASP costs in the 27-30 MCr range. As a trader without shields, it has 124T of cargo space max with a fuel scoop, for about 10-12 MCr. So in this configuration it is not so much more than a T-6. I was running it like that while slowly putting it in fighting shape, then just changed for a T-7 tonight. Quite a space pig!!!

The main downside to the Asp IMO is it's lack of a Class 4 compartment between the Class 3s and the Class 5 and 6. There's quite a compromise in there depending on what you plan to use it for.

Don't get me wrong, I love mine, but that compromise bothers me every time I take it into the outfitting yard.

So true! That's the beauty of this game. The only prerequisites are your own visions. This is the mother of all sandbox games if you'd ask me
/fanboi mode off

I play the same way "at the moment". I'm not interested in the trading tools and get rich quick schemes or what's the best load out threads. ( not saying people are wrong to like that approach ).

I get more from the game personally by testing it all out myself and what happens...happens!

Asp is like the jack of all trades that can do it all better than most of the ships and no ship is better than it in "all-aroundness".
- Compared to all, it has a better jump range than pretty much everything
- Compared to smaller ships, it's better at combat but a tad less fun
- Compared to a bit larger ships (Clipper, Dropship, Type 7), it can land anywhere and, smuggle better. Most likely it's even more effective in combat.
.

+1 rep, if only DEVs could see this as clearly as we do, they would make specialist ship much better into they're speciality

right now it's Adder/Cobra/ASP rules
