Is the CMDR creation tool a possible fix for body scale in VR???

Watching the live stream announcement:D it occurred to me that the chars shown were different heights and builds if this is reflected in VR,
It might go a long way to fixing the feeling of correct body scale without messing with the ipd settings which was causing me and others some eye strain
/thoughts?

EDIT: Just to clarify my original post I was assuming we would have the option to pick a body size/shape when creating a Cmdr and that seems to be the main problem people have with scale inc myself we we look down on a kid's body in ED.
But looking at the Video again it seems all the body sizes were the same I must of imagined that bit

No. Or maybe "not exactly".

The problem in ED is not with body scale but with scale in general; many people do not realize it because they never tried the "correct" IPD setting.

I once, for a mistake, experienced Elite in correct scale and everything has never been the same again: I could reproduce that situation for a while (setting the lowest possible IPD in Oculus settings) but now that solution is gone.

With character customization you may have a bigger body, but this wont solve the problem of scale.

Have the devs confirmed they are looking into IPD issue? I'm like you, IPD had to be manually set to the lowest in the oculus script file, 1.3 completely broke that function.

@Op - No, Avatar creation won't fix the issue

They confirmed nothing. They are no longer working on Oculus integration until its release.

Which is fine... I understand their reasons and they are right.

Problem is, we have been having this bug for months and tons of people kept saying "there is no problem with IPD, everything is fine, wow-so-much-scale" driven by ignorance or by that kind of fanaticism that makes people call "feature" a bug. It's clear that with such users, devs have few reasons to invest in bug-smashing...

Can we please stop saying "wow, such a scale in this game..." while it's clear that scale is totally off and instead of flying space giants all these spaceships feel like toys? Can we please clearly state that stations look like small boxes in space (both in Oculus and on monitors, even if for different reasons)?

Anyone that has tried vive with elite could perhaps give feedback on if this is an issue with vive, how they handle idp calibration?

I have to admit mate it's not that bad for me, everything does look and have immense scale, stations/supergiants etc, even standing in front of my Anaconda yesterday was an awesome feeling.

I think it just affects us all differently, am not even going to pretend to understand why the difference is so huge from one person to another.

Did you manually modify the Oculus ProfileDB.json file? It still works for me, just not in the same way as back in 1.2

Yeah, I'm frustrated by this bug :(

It surely is influenced by individual characteristics (the IPD itself, I guess...) but I also think it is well common.

Anyway, I never heard of profiledb.json: can you link me any guide?

There will be a hardware IPD setting, but the game still needs to render the two views with the right IPD or it'll look wrong.
M. Are you sure? Image separation has to be set by software if the distance between the lenses is fixed; but if lenses can be moved (like in CV1) modifying the renderization of the two images should be useless-counterproductive. Am I wrong?
