Is the Fer-de-Lance boring?

The only thing not boring about the ship is the sound effects. The hard points are too well placed, and after the unneeded buffs to agility AND heat management it feels like the ultimate forum warrior ship.

It's just too easy.

I love it, but I cannot stand duels that last 30 minutes. With 3.0+ power creep, I could outfit one with 3.600 Mj of shields and 1.600 armor. I already had to synthesis ammo during 1-on-1 duels, and I DO NOT look forward to have to do so every single time.

ALL Shield Boosters / HRP should have their engineering bonus AT LEAST halved.

With so many better ships to choose from for just about any job, it's always exciting when I can find a good excuse to dust off my Ferdie.

So good I own and use three fully 3.0 engineered. Just so I don't have to swap out modules. Fast, agile, resilient.

FSD range? That's what taxis are for, and also quite possible to get 20+ without going lightweight modules and weapons.
Cockpit? Bah. Takes a few hours to get used to it.
Slots? It's a medium combat ship. It has what it needs.
Cost? With discounted modules and no need for expensive armour. 70+ million gets you a bad boy.

It's not the king of the battlefield.

It's a well endowed prince.

Had a few over the years. Always sell them. Cool ship, but the cockpit annoys me. One of the struts sits right over the time to target indicator.

It's one of my fave ships and I fly it whenever I can, but so much THIS. It's a HUD, why is it obscured by anything physical?? It should be in front of the strut!

I don't know about boring but I can't seem to get on with mine. I bought mine relatively early on and loved it but after getting the FAS I never flew it again. I recently retried it and still can't quite get it right. I get the impression it's me rather than the ship though. I think the problem is that I'm trying to fly it like I do my FAS or Chieftain and it doesn't quite do it justice. Perhaps I need more time in it. It's just that when I am in it I am just spending half my time pining for my FAS.

It's extremely effective at what it does, and its flight model is different enough to make it interesting to learn.

Unfortunately, it only does one thing. It's not boring; it's an otaku.

Unless you’re doing pvp or just like the hideous aesthetic of it, there’s no reason to choose it over the Python.

There's no reason to choose a Python over anything. It doesn't out perform any ship, it's a jack of all trades, master of none. An over priced multi role ship. INB4 but but but muh outposts.

White hot, boarding on self-initiated fusion if fired rapidly.

Ships are also not exciting. People are excitable.
Tried it last night

Fire the shock cannons
Single tap, pause, double tap, pause, repeat.
Neglible muzzle flip and a controlled ROF for heat.

That depends...does your ego baulk at losing a fight at the CG's? If yes - then no, this ship is not boring...it is the very fellow for you & your self-esteem!

I retired mine after 2.1 due to its ludicrous OP-ness, which was a shame because it was a great ship, full of character - indeed, my 'go-to' boat - before Frontier made it easier to fly, fight with & outfit.

A thread I can really get into [haha]

I, as you see below, use the FDL. I truly love it, its a blast to use and the speed and turn rate, and the hard points are extremely nice. BUT! Will admit, the cockpit will make your OCD explode if you like symmetrical cockpits/lines; I've gotten used to it, so it doesn't bother me. The FSD is awwffulll, though with some elbow grease work with the Engineers it may actually be pretty worth it. Will admit, I go back and forth between my FDL and Type-6, as my Type-6 gets 33ly jump which is really nice compared to the 14ly that my FDL is currently getting.

Now compared to the Python, I don't know what to say as I have no experience with the ship. I would like to get one due to its versatility, and stop switching between ships and paying a load of money to get it transported, but I am hard strapped on credits atm. [blah]

I bought one, kitted it out, engineered it, and then... stripped and sold it.

Not impressed...
