Is the Krait Phantom Good?

Some people like the Phantom.

Some people do not like the Phantom.

The only way to know for sure which is you, is to buy one yourself and fly it.

I have two Phantoms.

I am thinking of buying a third...

I like the Phantom.

Imho the Phantom combines a lot of useful traits in one frame, arguably one of the most versatile ships in the game.
It can be built to fulfil almost every task to a high degree, besides maybe bulk hauling/ passenger transport.

I also have two, and feel the strong need of building a third. :)

Dual rapid fire APA?
Nice! Now imagine running your ship a little hotter and using them with thermal conduit. ;)
My Phantom rocks 4 focused TC plasmas, quite some devastating DPS.
Once I get them, I bet I will also have some fun at trying stuff out with the Advanced PA'S.

Couple of weeks ago I also bought a 2nd Phantom, and rigged it for (RES) combat.
Honestly I gotta admit it's only marginally more maneuverable than the Mk.II. Both are super sluggish compared to actually agile ships, and can be only really convinced to turn by boosting. I find this kind of ship rather arduous to fly, but when I say that, keep in mind I compare it to ships like the Challenger or Chieftain (and probably the FAS, but I never tried that one).

My combat Phantom is fitted with two large Rapid Fire PAs (slug), a corrosive MC and on the other class 2 slot either a beam or a FC rail. It's nice, bc RFPAs are pretty distro-hungry ^^

It's objectively far less maneuverable and slower than the Krait. Jump range and internals are not the most important aspects at all. Either ship can reach just about anywhere. The Conda can just get there faster.

The Krait has more than enough internals.
Jump range is not the most important aspects for exploration ship? Come on even though the ship with fastest cruising speed cannot reach the other system without hyperjump.

Krait has more than enough internals(9), but Anaconda has more more more than enough internals (12) and longer jump range.

Anyway I am not going to persuade you, suit yourself.

Jump range isn't the most important aspect, no. It simply makes the travel time to a specific system faster.

How does an 80ly jump range help explore hundreds ofy systems within 5ly of each other? You know that when you jump your maximum range, you're potentially skipping tons of systems, right?

I have flown 10's of thousands of light years in both ships. I'd take the Krait exploring over the Conda any day, because of the reasons listed.

The Conda turns extremely slow in super cruise, it has one of the worst canopies for viewing anything, it's much harder to find landing spots, and it's super slow for things like canyon running.

After a while, those extra internals become redundant. I can spend years in the Krait without every needing the full every internal slot for exploration, nevermind every internal Conda slot.

Looks great! Do you get much of overheating?
Not this one. The beam lasers are outfitted with thermal vent, so long as I'm not just firing into the void it actually freezes in combat. Giving it an armored (grade 1) powerplant of the largest size, and then stripping it down makes it superior to a standard powerplant in every way. 4% better heat dissipation, 40% better integrity (great for exploring), 4% better output and 6.4% lighter really gives it an overall boost.

Additionally, having the 6a fuel scoop means it fills up pretty quick.

Having the AFMU, repair limpet and mining laser makes it more or less capable of near indefinite deep space trips. It can gather the materials needed to repair and reload with relative ease.
