Is the need for a Gibbon negated?

I don't think we need another gibbon, but Frontier has a tendency to reuse animal rigs, so I would say the odds of us getting another gibbon like the White-Cheeked or Lar is reasonably high.

In my opinion another species of gibbon will come to the game it's something very possible but for me I wouldn't like it, because I'm not a big fan of the apes/monkeys in general, I prefer others animals in the game but if the people want another will be a welcome addition

People keep mentioning the lar gibbon. Well,.my only experiences with gibbons are a siamang and also white-cheeked gibbons (the latter I actually took a video yesterday of them but can't upload it here).

I'd go with either, though

I think that Lar gibbons are the most popular in zoos but I don’t really care if we would get white-cheeked gibbons or lar gibbons both are beautiful and differ from siamang.

I think Lar Gibbons will come, too. They are the most popular Gibbon within the Forum. Nearly every Zoo I have visited had a pair of them so from my personal perspective they also seem to be quite common in Zoos. They are also a but more colorful than the Siamang because of their sexual dimorphism (black males, light brown females). I would have nothing against their inclusion (it is kind of the Otter situation) because they would allow us to choose between 2 possiblities within this group of apes (? is it the right wird? In Germany we just would say monkey for all groups 😀) .

Edit: I have to reverse one of the things I have written. After reading a bit about the Lar Gibbon the colour of the fur seems to have nothing to do with its gender but nevertheless the Lar Gibbon has a lot more common color variations than the Siamang.

You got it right, Becks. Yeah, it's kinda like how we have to "chimps" (chimpanzees and bonobos). I wouldn't mind a 2nd gibbon, but do y'all really think we'll get one, or no?

The many natural color variations of the lar gibbon would make it a popular choice for the average player I believe. Make a blond/yellowish version the dominant color, so it got the biggest contrast to the siamang, but other color variations should still be easy to get access too since we aren't talking about rare mutations or similar.

For me personally yes. Although I certainly wouldn’t object to another species. But yes the siamang although somewhat unexpected in the species choice is definitely as good as any.

Just catching up on this thread. I think we may get one as they could reuse the basic rig and make modifications. But, if we only have content through the end of this year, I'd prefer to not get one and have that spot go to a more unique species. If we get content through part or all of next year, I'm fine with some similar animals and would like to see another gibbon.

Another Gibbon is another primate so im cool with it.
Overall i dont mind simply getting more of similar things so you can better fine tune what you want, for example with the two wolves, tigers, elephants and caimans.
Its also not uncommon that a zoo has multiple gibbon species.
Its honestly pretty dope that just like woth the otter, frontier first choose the one thats most different, as know any other gibbon would have a nice contrast with the siamang.

While the Lar Gibbon would be great, theres also a third Gibbon species i would like to see, the yellow cheeked gibbons.
With 47 holdings they are the 3 most common gibbon species in the EAZA and belong to the family of crested gibbons.
The males are black with beautiful golden cheeks, while the females are blonde with black crest.
Their range also would be outside the ones of both the Lar and Siamang.
This Gibbon Species also got Special intentions from the EAZA, which extended their breeding programm and making them much more common in zoos, especally france.
Also i just think they are cute.

I'd survive if the Siamang is all we get gibbon-wise, but I would like a more "conventional" gibbon as well just to round-out the ape selection a tad. Lar is my preferred, but I wouldn't be upset with Northern White-Cheeks or even Javan Gibbons.

I am happy now with the siamang, though I also think that lar gibbons would be a fine addition to the game. Any other species would be okay I guess but I'd rather something else at this point... Other primates are more necessary.

I am honestly NOT a fan of most apes... (Excluding Golden Snub Nosed Monkey and Siamang). I personally think that gibbons are SO overrated and honestly not needed. I would rather have other small monkeys!
