Is the Thargoid war mandatory or will we be able to avoid the systems they are in and do our own things, missions, exploring, and such. Thank you

I'd like to update but not to fight Thargoids, I have never been interested in fighting a flower looking alien and never will be lol, other than that silliness I love ED but the first time I saw a Thargoid I laughed for days that an alien looks like a flower, and laughed every time I killed the scouts, felt like I was killing a butternut squash lol.

Right now the maelstrom is at the upspin side of the bubble (toward barnard's star and pleiades). The next two are arriving and look to be forming a line near the same place.

That leaves a lot of the the galaxy free of thargoids right now.

As long as you never go into any system with the big new ugly galaxy map symbols on them... it will be optional...
This will require you leave them on so you know not to go in them...

Bribes as in new toys to make you get involved may be used to make you "choose" to not sit on the side lines...

I don't know, the shear number of "Thargoid Controlled Systems" are giving me a headache right now trying to navigate back from the Seagull Nebula. Even the carrier router is trying to take me through them.
