Is there a memory leak in ED ?

Hi guys,

While admiring a station by flying around it in a CV1, I noticed that after a while some micro-stutter would manifest itself. Logging out and back in seemed to solve the problem for a while but the micro-stutter reappeared. I tested this several times and the results were the same. Anyone else experience this ?

I think maybe there is a leak. I have 16GB in my machine, and not much running in the background. I got the "your computer is low on memory" error popup, and it was all consumed by ED. Although, it wasn't "directly" consumed by ED... The System Commit was huge, but the actual process size was "only" about 6GB. As soon as I closed ED, all the memory freed up.

It could be in the oculus SW. I have not experienced this when admiring the crisp view in the vive.

No I mean crisp. With the community workaround for the "FD vive blurring algorithm" the gfx in the vive is better than in the rift, then on top of that add the FOV. Check out the vive threads in this forum or try out on HW with proper settings your self.

What size is your windows page file, I think you need 16gb page file minimum?

Zero. Pagefile? Who needs a pagefile? :)
But seriously, pagefile isn't needed as long as nothing chews up all 16gb. ED shouldn't need anywhere near that much. Plus, its never been an issue until recently.

I like the theory that maybe the leak is on the Oculus side. Its hard to tell though. I will try to collect more details and post a bug once I have that.

Definately a memory leak in one of the two.. elite or oculus, or could be the debug tool. im running 32gb ddr3 2400 and i just got low memory warning sat in a station after about 4hrs of elite. Memory usage was at 10gb ... which is confusing as there was abt 15gb free, as mentioned it maybe pagefile low mem warning.

I'm also getting this... It's also weird because MSI Monitor shows it as RAM maxing out at 11GB and I have 16GB.

I watched afterburner last night whilst playing as normal it continued to rise. I also put on my page file to check that,I have a rough idea what Page file is used for but not sure when it's used. Mine runs at max from startup of elite well 11789 it was on last night. One other thing I noticed was every jump I made the ram usage jumped up a notch. Cannot wait for a solution to this problem

I'm not using VR, just triple monitors. But have observed the rams usage hit 12000 GB (DDR3 2400) when opening the missions menu.

I don't think this has anything to do with the Debug Tool as I ran today without it and still had RAM raising steady, something to do with the game or maybe Oculus runtime?

had this last night again after 3-4hrs... ram usage @ 12gig vram usage at 7.5gig.. closed ED, no change. closed debug tool, no change. closed oculus home, ram returned to 2-3gig. I suggest its an oculus problem, not ED.

Ive ran oculus home for an hour with 3.5 gb usage afterburner shows dead straight line didn't budge. I then put on debug left it running it jumped up a touch then levelled out. Soon as I start Ed and the race starts for the top.

Ive also noticed than on my set up if sitting in dock for a prolonged period of time that also levels out and stops climbing
soon as I start moving around landing taking off the usual things the race starts again

The most it's got to is just under 11gb after around 4 hours. So from my prospective it's the opposite way to Y2K very weird goings on somewhere:D
