I have played a little bit of ED, and I'd like to upload my Journal to EDSM, however I have had to do a clean install of the game due to my harddrive dying on me, making my past journal entries inacessible. Is there a way I could download an archive of my accounts' journal, if it even exists?
Is there a way to get your Journal from the server after a clean install?

Journals are local to your machine. If you weren't able to recover them from your old drive then it's gone unfortunately.
There's also visitedstarscache.dat which is local only. Not sure if it can be added to a new install though.
If you still have access to the old disk I'd try to backup the old user files and copy them to a new disk before reinstalling the game.

is there life in the drive? can it spin..... if so try a cluster restore/ file restore uliity may help.if not then you probably lost it.
As long as you actually have a copy of it, it's easy to add - just rename it to RecentlyVisitedStars.dat, place it next to the existing (new install) VisitedStarsCache.dat and the game will import it the next time you log in.
The drive is just barely alive, which means that the computer doesn't even recognize it, my best bet for getting my things from there is to scrape the data from it manually, but unfortunately I don't have the tools for that right now...
If I could access my old C drive there wouldn't be an issue in the first place.
Shot in the dark here, but worth a try?
Grab a copy of Linux, make a bootable drive (USB, CD, etc.) and load it up. You don't have to install it, you can run it "live" off the boot media. See if it can recognize the drive.
I've had luck with that in the past. Can't promise it'll work for you, but hey, worth a try.
After that, I'm out of ideas.
