Is there any point upgrading the Manticore Executioner to Level 5?

As per the title I suppose. It doesn't seem to matter how much damage the weapon puts out, it always takes two shots to kill an alert target - one to collapse the shields, one to do the damage. There's no shield bleedthrough, and even though it's always taken two shots, there never has been any bleedthrough even upgrading the rifle through the various levels.

If it's always going to take two shots, then why bother?

It's a very nice rifle of course, but still...

I've got a G4 Executioner (unmodded) but find that I've pretty much stopped using it in favour of the AR-50 and Aphelion (also both G4).
Don't think I'm going to bother grinding the mats to upgrade it to G5. As a "sniper" rifle I find it very weak: it doesn't do sufficient damage and it's projectile is way too slow.

As a sniper rifle it should be a one shot kill at G5.
Yes, it is one shot kill for unshielded targets and 2 shot kill for shielded. 44.7 damage per shot, taking out SRV in 3 shots with 4 pips on shield.

And headshot damage is x3 so go figure who can survive 134.1 damage.

Maybe you should take in consideration the actual level of the enemies. Low Mercenary rank cmdr gets low rank enemies. But what about Elite rank cmdr ?

I have a grade 4 with audio masking. Taking out entire camps from a rooftop is trivial now.
As long as I'm careful about it, no one has shields up and everyone dies in one shot.
Then it's a tormentor pistol for inside work.
EZ PZ
Good to know! Certainly the silenced Tormentor for inside works a treat!

I can confirm. I have both tormentor and executioner at grade 5, both with noise suppressor. Sometimes it is easier to switch weapon than reloading... now I just need audio masking to complete my builds :( It is hilarious , you shot a target while NPC is close to you and they are clueless for the shot direction. It seems that they hear only projectile impact and the agony of their mates.

Well, they hear the shot at the same range as the tazer. Oh wait... Dead people can't hear shots =P

I don't have a silenced tormentor, just the audio masked executioner.
I see no need to have the pistol silenced as the workers aren't a threat at all and it's actually better for me if the sound of the shot brings the others right to me.
I prefer both my weapons to be silent so both of them will have both mods. It helps me to dictate the situation if I want to alert NPCs I know how to make noise. Apart from that, there is one type of mission in which your setup might not be enough - Covert assassination without causalities AKA only target dies.

In that situation I go full stealth and use the energy overload tool on the mission target.
Then exfiltrate.

I prefer to have the option to shot down the target from the opposite side of the room without having to sneak and wait for the right moment to stun it where no one is around.
