Engineers Is there any reason to use lasers over MCs?

honestly, I'd like to see some of these penetration-modded lasers (whatever the effect is called that does damage to hulls) against some of these super shielded ships. Yea, you've got a 6000hp modded shield, but how strong is your hull? That chip damage from those lasers adds up real quick, I'd think. Would probably make more sense to get them to run away than trying to wittle huge shields down with kinetics so long that you run out of ammo..

I'll use this one as an example (assuming gimballs):
DPS of 1 large pulse = 14,8
DPS of 1 large MC = 18,9

With -20% resist to thermal:
pulse = 17,7
MC = 22,6
2 pulses = 35,5
2 MCs = 45,3
2 overcharged MCs 73~82, depending on how good you roll

Have at least one MC with Corrosive and its debuff plus the extra 30 percent from synthesis and you are easily over 100 dps and can eat any NPC under an anaconda in literally seconds.

I like what lasers do to shields, as opposed to what mc do to shields.
When I am in RES and warzones I also like the fact that with lasers ammo is no problem.
I hate nothing more than having to leave the killing grounds because my ammo is depleted.
That is also the most important reason why I will probably never carry missiles, or torpedoes.

I wish FD would add ammo storage expansion modules for projectile weapons eventually.
