Hello FDev, I have really enjoyed watching the recent livestreams and am very much looking forward to Q4 dropping.. A big well done in so many ways guys!
So as you may or may not know, I have had a small casual player group called Starship Enterprises for a few years now. however, due to various real life obligations, the group has fizzled down to just me.. I sense an 'aawwww' coming, but don't feel bad, I really enjoy the challenge of working an 18 billion population system by myself.
Still though, I have a nice set up in my home system for the casual Elite Xbox player and with squadrons on the horizon I am looking forward to possibly getting a few new people joining the ranks of SE.
This of course means I will need to set up a squadron... and this leads me onto my unfortunate catch 22 situation.
So i can set up a squad, fine, costs me a bit of game money but no probs. but then I am basically stuck inside my squad unless I have someone else to take the title of leader. And I just want to establish here that I know I could disband my group and remake it, but I dont really want to repeatedly go through that process and ofc respend that game money each time.
I think this would be very limiting for myself, or any squad leader. I want to establish ties to my group and the best way to do that is to join other peoples groups for events and such and help them. I also really like your idea to use the squad mechanics as a kind of LFG for events, but again I would not be able to join any of these events had I made a squad for myself.
I honestly thought that squads would be a bit like the crew lounge screen, allowing players to join up to say 5 squads but only REPRESENT one at any given time.
failing that I was possibly hoping for some kind of mechanic allowing squads to form alliances and contribute towards a common goal.
I feel that come Q4, I will reluctantly have to not make a squadron for SE else it exclude me from a whole load of interesting and fun gameplay with other players.
and that makes me sad... and you dont want that, do you Fdev people?
