Engineers Is Yttrium good for anything?

Per the title.

I grabbed some while searching for other stuff but I am getting pretty full. Can I pitch it over the side or is it actually good for something?

Yeah what EUS said. Inara is where I get my info on all the Mats and what they are good for and how much I need.

As far as FSD Boost, I am not an explorer and I don't plan on making a long run anytime soon, so I guess I can free up some mat space. Too bad I can't give them away.

It was used together with polonium in the original blueprints for FSD grade 4 and 5... They were changed because yttrium and polonium were too rare. Now it's used only for synthesis.

That's wild. I found plenty of it as a by-product of my search for Vandium over in the Kaushpoos system. I literally pitched 20T of it over the side due to the info in this thread.

On the other hand i have only ever run across 3T of Polonium in my travels though I will admit I have never put much effort into looking for it either.

I guess that sometimes "rare" things are not so rare after all. I see Commanders looking hard for things that I run across daily. [where is it]

ouch what a waste we so need more storage imho even just basic material storage on the ship

If you select it in your inventory panel, it will tell you what i's used for.
Some engineers might also want it for some mods.

Yup, yytrium and polonium kept up occupied on these forums for months. Some very heated debates i recall. And now they have been abandoned, lonely and unloved (sobs)
