Isla Sorna Park Layout Help

I'm currently on Isla Sorna, but I'm having some difficulty with how I should build the park.

I've already built a small park within the vicinity of the Arrival Point, but I've yet to expand operations to the rest of island and to complete the last set of missions. I have accumulated $350 million, which should be more than enough to make major design alterations to the park, and create the necessary animals and buildings for the island.

These are the ideas I have for the Isla Sorna park:

Idea 1 - Jurassic Park Layout

The Arrival Point section will have all of the guest and staff facilities (visitor centres, hotels, power stations, etc.), similar to the Worker's Village from Trespasser, and the rest of the island will be reserved for the dinosaurs. The animals will be separated by the fences, and will be seen by visitors safely from above in the monorail (similar to Park Drive).

In theory it should be possible, but I would like to hear your thoughts on this idea.

Idea 2 - Jurassic World Layout

All three sections of the island will each have a monorail station and a couple of hotels, and a variety of attractions for visitors depending on the species displayed in the enclosures (Viewing Galleries, Viewing Platforms and Gyrostations). The Arrival Point section will be the main area, housing the Ranger Station and ACU Helipad.

While this layout is definitely possible, the biggest issue with this one is probably going to be power. The biggest flaw with this design would be with the power, considering how often tropical storms hit the island and how vulnerable the pylons and buildings; it will be a long way for Rangers to travel in their Jeeps to the other sections.

Also I don’t know if it’s possible with this layout to complete the missions.

Idea 1 sounds more interesting to me.

Basically, the entire west portion of my Sorna is essentially a free roam enclosure – kinda similar to your idea one. At the ends, there are viewing galleries, platform, and gyrosphere stations. A single monorail trail pass through it at the middle. Even with those, there is a slight problem with Dino Visibility – it is comparatively low but still high enough to keep my park at 5 star rating. You have to pay attention to that – 2 monorail trails perhaps?

You’re also right in rangers/ACU with map of these sizes. In my Tacano and Sorna, there are two of everything. In Matanceros and Muerta, only 1 ACU with 2 ranger stations. I didn’t pay close attention to power management. I was cheating – if things get out of hands, I simply reload the game. The final mission is something though – chaotic and challenging enough but still I’m lucky enough to go through it with one pass.

I dont have this in my final version of Sorna, but fun fact: you can neatly fit 6 large power stations in that narrow part of the smaller expansion zone closest to the arrival valley: enough power for any park.

For Idea 1, would something similar to this layout (except with a monorail station) be any good? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ecd8MhCQPbE#

Also I'm not sure if it is possible to have another monorail loop available, especially with the narrow valleys. Would the one monorail loop be enough?

Finish all the missions first with an ugly park, then bulldoze everything. On your second build, take your time, plan everything before you build it, and make sure it all lines up.

The first build idea is ok but it doesn't maximize your space well. You have a few large sections to use; each of which can contain a fair number of both amenities and exhibits. Your visibility score is going to be really low with just the monorail, and it's going to take forever to complete a loop around the island without stops. Definitely possible, neat idea for a unique park, but not really efficient.

The second build is pretty close to how I like to structure a park, but to be honest I really haven't gotten too far on my construction of an ideal Sorna. It's the tornadoes; they frustrate me so and I wish we had the option to turn them off once we complete all three missions. Usually I like to have a single area of he island dedicated to power and utilities, but on sorna a better idea might just be having individual power areas for each section...

Also, the ranger thing- cut each of the areas off from each other so the only way in or out is the monorail. Put a ranger in each section so they can quickly deal with any issues in their area without having to go back to the main base each time.

This is a difficult question to answer. First off, there are many internal game-equations that I’m not entirely sure of.

For visibility calculation, I don’t know if:-

a) Visibility = Area that includes Dino (assuming each Dino has an area) within visible range / monorail viewable area
b) Visibility = Visible Dino / Total Dino in an island
c) Monorail visibility calculation is based on an instance or an average throughout the entire track
d) Number/frequency of train depends on the length of the track and number of stops

Hopefully, someone will help on these questions.

I will certainly do some research and will try to experiment them in the future. At the moment, you may also try to figure them out with Nublar.

For a quick guess (maybe incorrect), if you like a single monorail loop, I would say:-

1) Make sure the concentration of Dino in each enclosure is not too sparse. I suspect the low visibility in my case may due to this reason. The enclosure is too huge with too few Dino in it (30 in my case of western free roam portion, around 70 % visibility the entire Island).
2) Make sure the track goes through hot spots – such as feeders and water.
3) You might want to consider a curved zig zag pattern of monorail track trying to maximize visibility efficiency.

However, if b), c) Based on an instance, and d) Based on stops are all true, I’m afraid to say implementing Idea 1 would be an impossible task if you aim for a 5 star rating park.

As far as the narrow valleys are of concern, no worries, I just tried them out last night on the narrowest south valley, it isn’t a problem to have 2 tracks.

When it comes to number of hotel, I already got 9 of them and it doesn’t seem to be enough (if I add a few more high rating Dino, I’m sure it will turn red).

Hououin Kyoma is a friendly guy. Should you have any concern or question, you can comment on his channel and I think he will be happy to help you.
