Isn't it about time the difficulty in the ground missions got fixed?

I drop on a settlement to fix the reactor. The game drops SIX pirates on me. They can destroy my Scorpion. Fighting on foot without the gear I'm trying to get the materials for is a waste of time.

I wouldn't call getting ganked by 6+ people and not even stripping half of one of their shields before getting killed easy.
Delivery missions are terrible. They pay too little, you can't loot without aggroing the whole settlement. Don't have good gear and I need the materials to get good gear. What would you call 'being ready' for that?

What suit you using? What grade? What weapons? What grade? Scorpion has issues with the accuracy of the cannon. Ironically, Scarab is better but don't box your self in-work from distance and learn to drive (stay mobile) while in the turret seat.

take a shuttle if there are bad guys there take them out on foot,BUT make sure you have botherd to upgarade youre suit and weapons,g5 engineered weapons then its a walk in the park.

Once power is up scavs don't drop. Wait a couple of secs. If nothing drops, power up the settlement asap. If scavs do drop, nuke them with missiles. Once power is up you can take your sweet time exploring the place.

you can hear that enemy craft are gonna drop in giving one more than enough time to scarper or lure to a kill
dont ever buy ARMA if you think the NPC are tough here...........

I often have trouble hearing that put-put noise of ship arriving. Really hard when I'm side that one stupid AG layout where the Power Center is right at the back of a big building which is a small maze.

I managed to get the gear I wanted with a minimum of close contact with crazy grounder goons.
Do you want a hint or more detailed instructions on where to go and what to do?

when i have surround speakers on i always hear them "incoming" but via headphones i do have to tilt the head somewhat especially if inside;)
but thats an excellent easy killing lure zone if next to an ammo box too if you maintain good cover and sprint away from the frags as they are thrown and don't hang around for them to land as npc have great frag throw accuracy the trick is too keep moving sideways if exposed and under fire as stationary targets are doomed as there firearms fire is acc too but as for leading a direction with predictive fire they just don't do that so you can effectively dodge bullets...........
(above all don't panic! o7)
the trick too using a scorp is to get in close fast directly behind a perimeter building for cover an defend your flanks as they approach then to park it well away from the base if not in use

Yes, inside the buildings I can hear the approach of landing craft - before the noise of the power coming online - and gives me time to run outside to the SRV.

Scavengers aren't particularly tough, it is numbers, mix of weapons, and their supreme grenade accuracy. Occasionally the obnoxious plasma sniper that's usually spread out from the others can take off the suit shield and 80% of your health if using T1/T2 gear with one shot.
Time consuming but satisfying to take them out on foot, just pack a mix of projectile/laser or plasma/laser. I tend to strip shields with a laser pistol, run in and end the argument with a double barrelled plasma retort, retreat, cover, reload, repeat.

That said, I prefer the scarab cannon to down scavengers quickly. If your SRV is being destroyed with you in it, it'll be because it was "parked" on a grenade.

Also remember, if it's a dark settlement, keeping your shields down and light off is a big help, as they can see them makes it hard to hide and ambush them. Running around full pelt also alerts them. And you want two weapons early on, energy weapon to strip their shields, and kinetic weapon to kill them. I personally use the TK Aphelion for stripping shields, the Karma AR-50 to punch through their suits and kill them and the Manticore Tormentor for close range, with the Manticore Tormentor the first shot strips their shields, and the second shot kills them...though that is also dependant on the NPC suite engineering.
