Issue Tracker: Planetary Tiling

Funnily enough I've decided to focus my resources elsewhere too. After the way Fdev have treated the players I will not be spending any further money on this company. To unreliable and I no longer have the confidence that if this company ruins a part of the game that they will even fix it. Fdevs customer interaction is truly appalling

Well see a billion pages about this but call me not surprised on this yet another disappointing announcement. Guess next week the announcement will be AA is hard so we are not fixing that. Then followed by ships are hard so we are focusing on other things the community want. Lastly followed up by maintaining servers are hard and require resources so we are shutting those down. Good night.

Greetings Commanders,

We’d like to take this opportunity to address the Tiling Planetary Features issue from the Issue Tracker.

After spending some time to observe the effects of the issue while weighing-up the costs to resolve it, we have decided to focus those resources elsewhere. Reducing or preventing the tiling effect would require a deep-overhaul of fundamental systems, which in turn would disrupt other aspects of the game. This would inevitably take time away from developing and improving other elements such as performance, bug fixes, and new content. We cannot justify this level of change and a re-generation of the galaxy in Elite. This is unlikely to change in the future so the issue will be closed, freeing up votes on the tracker for other issues.

We’ll continue to strive for the best possible experience for the highest number of players which our current focus allows us to do. We hope you’ll appreciate the reasoning behind this decision.

I understand that this frustrates some people, but I can say, 100% that I have not noticed it... the repetition. I've seen plenty of IRL pictures where Nature does repitition in a way that looked "fake", but it was actually real.

And I am glad that you are going to focus on waaaay more pressing issues, such as Performance and Bugfixes... not to say I wouldn't want some new content as well.... but Performance and Bugfixes first... please!

Not a major issue, but... what is the Dev team actually working on for Elite? You're being cagey about update 12, you cancelled consoles, and now this. I understand that this would probably be more effort than it's worth to fix at this point... if Elite is on the way out.

Thanks for the heads up. I will continue playing no matter what.

To follow up on my previous indignant posts. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with re-generating the galaxy. Familiar and already discovered planets will become different? So what? The main thing is that they will become better and more realistic. That's what we need to think about!

It's the year 2022. We've got to keep up! Especially since the developers have already abandoned the consoles of the previous generation, and the PC is a platform that gives a lot more freedom. Take advantage of it! Make the game better! Make the game beautiful! Nope...

It's not about things that look fake, but about shapes that have been used as assets to create planet surfaces. If you look at it from space it appears as if you used the exact same stamp multiple times on the same surface. Like, not an alike-shape, but the exact same pattern. It's not all over the place, but if you are an explorer and see a lot of planets, it happens regularly and is really annoying.
Just to clarify what this is about.
