Type-10 Defender Issue with Ship Launched Fighter after a little while.

I've been playing around now for a few hours with the SLF, I've got the XG8 Javelin and from time to time it reverts from Engage at Will to Maintain Formation.
Is this normal behaviour? The only way to get the SLF working in 'EaW' again is to recover it and re-launch it. Is there something I need to do to stop this from happening?

The Javelin has a limited ammo supply and the ai pilot will revert to Maintain Formation when it's out of ammo. Recovering and Re-launching is the only way to re-arm it.
