It is Frontiers fault! Totally.

Today i got an eMail from Frontier, that the galaxy needs me. Okay okay, i was not playing for the last 2 weeks...

The reason why i did not play during the last few days is, that it is currently too hot here in Germany to fire up my 700W VR rig and wearing an HMD. If Frontier had not delivered the world´s best VR experience of all times, i would certainly play the game on a monitor and on a much less heat sensitive setup right now. But i cant play it in 2.5D anymore... So it is totally Frontiers fault! :p

I hope they will continue building upon this awesome VR experience and i am really looking forward to see, what wonders of the galaxy they have in store for us with 2.4. So a big thanks goes to Frontier for making the game i always wanted and for the best long term virtual reality experience so far delivered on the market. I´ll be rejoining the fight soon!

Be seeing you in the (VR) void, CMDRs!

I thought, only for things happening here on the forums? But hey, okay... i officially apologize to Frontier and it is hereby totally blamed on Sir T.j.

sort your cooling out.. case fans in/out

Honestly, it is no fun wearing an HMD, when you have 27°C in your room (living right under the roof with direct sun on the windows for the whole day)... My rig might even get it done with its decent 7 cooler airflow, but my organic systems will most likely steam into the headset for a not so nice experience... Wednesday the heat wave is over and the galaxy will have me back.

Hell i keep my playing room at constant 21 degrees. 27 I don't think I could wear the rift for more than 10 min..

What he said. ED is great in VR. Haven't used a monitor since even though I have to wear a bunch of wires on my head to play in VR :) And to the dev's, good work, please keep the love for VR going.

I'ts been quite warm here to but I overcame that problem by having 2 large floor standing fans blowing full blast at me while seated with headset on

I have to agree though it is ED's fault I can't do anything else anymore cos I'm spending way to much time in Elite mainly with my lower jaw on the floor in awe of the sheer scale of Elite, have to say though I'm not getting much done in Elite either because i'm so taken with what i'm seeing I forget what i'm supposed to be doing

I'm in an upstair room facing south and my summer temps would be a problem too had I not done something about it. Air con unit, solar film on windows, small ubs fan blowing on my head and I get the temps down to 23 inside when it's 28 outside.

Those are exactly the things i am looking into right now. I decided to go for a mobile air conditioning unit, that doesn´t require holes in the wall... blind-covering the windows kept the place at 26.5°C today, with 34.9°C outside... almost 35°C in May... phew...

I can't believe you haven't put on your VR rig in two weeks.

Are you okay?

Hey, I bought in as a 'founder' with lifetime pass whilst having a Mac and then built a PC with windowz on it for Oculus when it launched and haven't played ED VR ever!!!

Is the game finished & ready to be played from zero credits? or are the rules still being worked out?

Nice to occasionally read some are having fun tho (-: & looking forward to finding a quiet place in the universe for an ol timer one day

You guys talking about your cute heat issues.

I live in Western Australia, the ambient room temperate gets so hot, some days, that my base stations no longer function even if I wanted to play.

I'm not even joking, some days I get home from work and have to run the air conditioner for an hour before the base stations will see each other and stay connected :)

I went the exact same way. Started on the Mac, using Bootcamp, switched to the native version and when it was clear, that Horizons wont make it to the MacOS version, i built a decent gaming PC with VR in mind.
To answer your question, the game rules are still being worked on, but actually it does not disturb the experience. You can play the game, make some good credits and get immersed in the awesome world. Really, fire it up... you have decent hardware and the best VR game to play... Give it ago, even if you just head into an asteroid field for a cup of coffee (get a cup with a straw... Drinking with a headset on can end in disasters ;) )

This sounds like living on the edge of the habitable zone :D... Hopefully it is dry heat. Germany moves more and more into tropical summer conditions... Very high humidity (62% this morning with over 22 degrees at 5 AM...). I definitely need a system to get the humidity out of the rooms, if i want to play in VR in the coming months... But i am looking forward to get a mobile system within the next few weeks.

I had a good chuckle at your temperatures and humidity OP, I used the rift all the way through a Queensland summer, mid 30's centigrade and up to 100% humidity every day. You get a fair bit of moisture build up on the lenses for the first 10 mins of use and then the headset seems to equalise and it stops. just train a couple of fans on you while you play and you will be fine.
