General It is unfair to lose data discoveries and biological samples

Well, the title already says it all, I just lost 2 days of my life discovering and collecting biological samples so that a stupid Thargoid intercepted me and destroyed me in less than 1 minute, on top of that my ship had no weapons and had ejected 3 Thargoid sensors to leave me alone but no, the NPC was not satisfied, so what reason was there to destroy me? It is a total injustice that you waste time of your life so that some stupid NPC destroys you for no reason. The sensation I have now is equal to a kick in the balls, plus a stomp, plus a slow castration with a rusty serrated knife and finally spilling sulfuric acid on the same amputated area. One thing is that you do it wrong yourself (crashing yourself, provoking people, getting into places where you know you're going to die, etc) and quite another is that they kill you because a damn NPC wants to destroy you, screwing up all the effort. and time invested. It disgusts me tremendously that there is no mechanic that allows you to save said data because, as I have already said, it is your EFFORT AND TIME that you use to have fun. It's a complete shame I really mean it. I put a screenshot so you can see what I mean.

PS: If you see something strange in the text it is because I have used a translator.

Thargoid interceptors don't attack unless you are carrying guardian cargo (instant hostile I believe) or Thargoid cargo (acts like an NPC piracy situation where you are on a timer to drop all of it and steer clear).

If you were flying through Thargoid space, you should absolutely have done your research and not have been carrying Thargoid cargo. This data loss is on you imo. Easily avoided by doing the tiniest bit of research into Thargoid behaviour.

Why were you carrying around Thargoid sensors? MULTIPLE Thargoid sensors? I mean, its common knowledge that if an Interceptor scans you while carrying them, it goes immediately hostile?

Being upset over this is a bit like saying “stupid bears! I was walking along peacefully and I got mauled by one, just because I started shouting at it, and threw stones at it!”

So now you know that carrying thargoid sensors or amount of valuable stuff you have onboard or whatever you think is very important for you has zero effect on your ships stats.

you should not have had that cargo, as such, this death was your own error.

Have to add, also sounds like you have no experience with the Thargoids.
Best move upon hyperdiction
as soon as its possible, hit fa off and boost till you cant.

even with UA's you can escape by doing this, even in a crap ship.

World's tiniest violin.

"I got shot by this person for NO REASON while climbing out of a back window of their house, wearing a mask, with a big sack over my shoulder labelled "SWAG" - such an injustice!"

I see that people are not realizing much, I mean that it is unfair to lose exploration data that has been invested SO MUCH time. If they were rewards, well, I'm not arguing there, but at least keep the discoveries, that you don't have to do it again, much less for this, I mean, I haven't provoked the Thargoid in any way. I've already said that I got rid of loading time that bothers them so much, which in theory should leave me alone, but it was not the case. And yes, I don't have much experience with these encounters but I understand that if you release the load in time they don't attack you, but not in this case.

I disagree, losing hard earned explo data is an important deterrent form doing things, less than smart...Go ahead, ask me how I know...

ETA: Oh and in this case, teh Thargoids around HIP 22460 are being whipped into a frenzy by Stagnation and his pew pew device...lots of reports lately about Angry Thargoids...

yeh, Thargoids are the same as pirates in that regard, you can dump everything, they are still going to kill you.

This though should be common sense in this game, words are meaningless, only actions matter.
A Pirate is there to be Killed. so kill him first, why give him a chance, he lies when he speaks and only wants to shoot you.

A Thargoid, you never know but they are big and deadly, so run.

I have to add, first hand experience is way more useful than what others say...

Hutton's free conda should be enough to tell you 2 things
1. - people often relay info they have not checked or tested themselves, (HUGE- this is Utube and 99% of its content)
2. - people intentionally feed people incorrect info for various reasons.

and now you have first hand experience with a Thargoid and you now know you were lied to or fed bullcrap.

How am I going to defend myself if I had no weapons? The ship I used was designed for scouting only, and believe me I ran but the had a bad day and took it out on me.

In that case, the game should take care of advising me with valid data to avoid these situations, this is something I also hate, they get used to the community in the forums doing that job when it shouldn't be.

that was pretty much my point.
It is a bit about focus - FOCUS
Run was/is the only option

Defend yourself or attack is only an option, when you go looking for a fight.
If you are in a non-combat fitted vessel, run or die.
Suicide is meaningless to them and pointless for you.

I have hi jump range ships too, I try to only fly killing machines but u can't always.
And even when I haul freight, I am in a well armed Cutter
Focus though, stops me from killing interdictors when I am in my cutter, even though it is easy to do, it is a waste of time at this point in my business. it is counter productive, even though I want his bounty, there is a time and a place, hauling the freight is the wrong time.

So, when in my LR ships that are fairly weak, FOCUS is KEY, I even have 5 Hammers in my LR conda, in case I have no choice, but I will go out of my way to NOT use them when I am in that ship.
Everyone has this same problem in this game.
It is hard to keep focus when things change so fast , so a person needs to find their center, so they are always in control, not the random events.

Really I'd rather we lose more by dying - combat bonds should be lost, even a number of mats (not all - that would be crazy). There should be more Dangerous in the game.
I also like the difficulty, but there is a difference between making the game difficult and annoying people.

Sell your data before doing something risky. With fleet carriers everywhere it becomes much easier. On a plus-side.... 2 days data probably not much without knowing the value. Probably under 50 million which isn't all that bad. Try losing 2 weeks data, or more. A cmdr learns to be careful.
