I really think they should allow us to have a bit of storage space on stations AND in our ship's cargo for things like commodities, ores, ship fittings, etc. What if I'm in a Cobra and I want to go to an extraction system to do some mining or whatever, and I want to be able to change my Cobra's fitting based on what I want to do atm. I should be able to carry some fittings in my cargo so I can dock up, refit to a mining fit, and be on my way.
The way it is now, I'd have to literally SELL my current fitting, then find a system with a station that sells the fitting I need, then go to my mining system, do my mining thing, then go BACK to a system that sells weapons/whatnot, and then refit for whatever else I wanted to do after that. Kindof an unnecessary pain in the @$$.
For instance: there are going to be 100 billion star systems in this game. That means a lot of people are gonna want to go way out beyond human space and be a nomad explorer and be self-sufficient, which sounds amazing. I don't see how this is going to be possible without allowing players to store useful things (minerals, ship fittings, inflatable asteroid stations, etc) in their cargoholds, and in their modular asteroid stations. Many aspects of gameplay that could make this game 10x as awesome, will require being able to store things in cargoholds and station item storage.
FD please don't limit this game's awesomeness by ignoring this.
