Items in the 5/4 livestream

I don't know if this has been posted before because I could not find it in the search. I watched the livestream on Wednesday 5/4 and though I liked most of the things I saw, there was a couple of things that I think could be either improved on or left out entirely.

  1. Stairs - I like the idea of the stairs, however I would like the ability or option to use stairs at a lower slope angle. I might not want to be forced to have my path at such a steep angle to place a set of stairs, I might want a set at a lower angle. Possibly the option to use either a ramp or stairs would be better, or for that matter, the option for an escalator also.
  2. Peeps - That video showing the peeps jumping with glee when a coaster train passes by, in my opinion, is not needed because whenever I went to theme parks or amusement parks I have never seen that happen at all. I hope they review this and decide to eliminate it or at least give us the option of turning it off. To me it not realistic and utterly rediculous.

I agree with both points.

I also noticed that the peeps basically ignore the stairs and just continue to walk normally; most of the time skipping steps or clipping through them.

I'd also like to see the reactions to be a bit more random, instead of everyone doing the same thing every time. It would be better to maybe only have children randomly react to coasters going by. It is kind of silly to have the entire population do the same predictable thing.

I am sure they have stated this is all WIP and subject to change/improvement.

You are correct on the animation for the stairs walking and I am sure they are aware and working on this as best as possible. I would however also say that to make the animations work that you will always need to have the stairs at the same angle, rise & going (tread size) or if say 3 angles are available later then it would require 3 animations for each character height.

So lets say you have the 3 angles and there are 7 heights of the guests from small children to tall adults, each instance needing a specific animation means 21 animations are need to be created and this is a lot of work to get correct for all instances with coding needing for the visitor to recognise and determine which stairs it is.

The other note of the reaction of the visitors to new ride/coaster etc is just one of many additional animations from my understanding and they will be working to bring more to the game as time goes on so that culturally they act more as we would expect so as you say younger children jumping, adults smiling or looking scared as the coaster swoops overhead etc.

Regards,

Adam

The jumping animations are still a WIP as stated in the livestream, so instead think of the jumping as a placeholder for a different animation (maybe pointing and "ooo/ahhh" . Maybe kids will instead run up to the edges of the path and watch the coaster fly by, adults will glance towards it and smile, etc.

As for the jumping animation, that was stated to only be used in the future when you place a new ride/attraction down near the guests. [squeeeeee]

Being able to toggle between stairs and ramp when building inclined paths would be nice.
