Items one would buy from a cash shop without gaining an advantage. (Anti-subscription thread)

There have been threads asking if subscription should be applied in the game model (which I find very weird, unless someone has a succesful example of that happening in game industry before, I mean the switch from pay once to subscription).

So instead of people trying to convince other people that subscription will help the game grow, why don't we suggest what cosmetic or other non pay to win items would someone find probable to pay for?

Colored laser beams, maybe with different sound effects and explosions I d find interesting. Stats of course same as existing free weapons
Start with blue beams. See how imperials fill the ED coffers and let the disco dogfighting begin...

Thruster exhaust color, maybe different effects for the fumes left behind (lines of ions instead of fumes?)

Cockpits?? There is sure room for those headbobing dogs in there right?? Or those hanging dice for the rear view mirror. Hm, no rear view mirror... well... go buy one in the cash shop!

Not sure if this is the thread you are looking for:

A thread is a discussion/arguement therefore should accept negative/positive views. Having an anti-thread for everything just doubles the number of threads and makes it twice as difficult to do anything.

For the suggestions bit this pretty much covers everything you mentioned and more. The "Common suggestions" thread sticked has many replies about customisation.

Very little. Right now. I have mugs and skins etc, but have decided to hold off further purchases till I see some content that relates to my style of play

There are plenty of visual changes that they could sell. Different lenses for your laser so you can pretend to be a discoboat, cockpit changes/color schemes/additions, decals, name changes to your CMDR save...

How about instead of trying to suggest stuff they charge for, we wait for them to come out with more content first? Bad enough they didn't give us much for the power play update.

If this game became subscription based expect it to die in a month or two. Hell 60 bucks is already too much for what feels like a game that should still be in alpha.

The one thing keeping me from buying skins for my ship is how hard it is to admire my ship. No point buying them if I never get to see them.
Ok the 2nd thing is the lack of skins for some ships: I'm flying a python right now, I'd love cool stripes like some of the viper skins.
How about decals, like WWII fighter and bomber nose paintings? Ship names?
I gotta confess, when I heard about skins for ships, in my head I saw this:

Sorta disappointed with the choices available.
Ditto for bobble heads, furry dice, etc. Make your ship your own!

Well, the admitted to needing money. Hence why they went and made a deal with MS. One would think the shop they already have would be the first thing they'd update when money starts to run out...

Wait, you want Anime bishoujo skins?

*I* don't. But why not? Or other wacky skins? Just how hard is it to make one? Why not have player submitted ones? There's no reason not to have hundreds to choose from.
E.g.: The viper flag skins. My country is not included... why stop at what they had? Once you have a "apply flag to viper" routine, you can surely do every flag.

It seems an easy thing to do but... like I said, having more opportunities to actually look at your ship would also be required.

Or even say, in supercruise, you're on target, just watching the numbers count down. I'll sometimes engage headlock and look around and see the sights. Should be able to have a 3rd person view and look around my ship as it slinks past that gas giant. I know there is some "debug mode" that say, you tube vloggers use to do same, but I've not yet gone hunting for it... is it available by default?

Yes, ctrl-alt-space by default. The controls are fiddly, though. I don't think the headlook controls work while in that mode. You have to use the thrust controls (yaw/pitch/roll/etc) to maneuver the camera.

Theres a key binding buried in the list called remote camera or debug camera or something.

"Subscription will help the game grow?" :) Considering the number of games forced to drop subscriptions just to survive, the only thing this claim shows is a huge disconnect with reality.
To answer your second question, I see absolutely no reason to buy paintjobs or decals. After all, I spend all the time in my cabin and there is even no outside view except the debug cam. Some cabin decorations would be a different matter, a plastic bobblehead with David Braben I would purchase :) And if FDev ever implements walking around ships/stations/planets, that would be an entirely different area of cosmetics.
