Maybe I'm crazy, but I think one of the problems was Steam, VR.

I'm able to run the game straight from the rift menu, and it seems much better.

*edit*

No... it is much better.

And now that I have it fixed, this game a sight to behold :)

Yep, i just use the launcher without steam. Steam VR it's just another unnecessary software layer. Glad that now you will experience first hand all the beauty of the game in VR, it was hard to explain ;)

Yeah, it's amazing how much more flawlessly and clearly it runs, I even dialed up my HMD a bit with no noticeable hit in performance.

About to take this Eagle on a test spin in the rings :)

Dude, do your self a favor ad hop in a T9, stand behind the pilot chair and have a look around :D.

Also try docking with dock computer while standing and looking around ;)

OH and the scarab! (just set the option to keep the horizont stady...)

Well I'm fresh out of DCs at the moment, Xabaras, but you know what is just as glorious? Standing on the flight deck of my heavily armed and armored mining Python, The Alamo, while my limpets are zooming around picking up fragments and my long range burst turrets are blasting away at hostile targets :D

Man, I get what you mean now when you talk about scale - the sense of scale you get in VR in this game is glorious. It's actually a joy to just fly around - really takes a lot of the monotony out of going from point A to Point B.

I know that may fade a little in time, but for now, it's fantastic :)

Ehehe told you ;) and so far it has not faded for me. As you said just flying around became a whole new experience. And fighting its just too much fun, the added sense of awareness and being able to follow your target with your head and target what you are looking at makes the game so immersive. I'm really happy that you are enjoying the VR experience, can't wait to join you in the big void ;)

Yeah, the added situational awareness and sense of direction really is a game changer. There is far less jousting now, I've found. Later I'm going to run a CZ or two to get some good combat in.

Welcome to ED as it should be played

Totally caved. I hate you guys :)
I pick it up today. I won't let it get in the way of my goals... I promise ;)

Well, you know the drill, we are resposible for your goals now, so will be checking on your progress :p
/me murmurs something about needing to set own goals first and scurries away

Ha - well, I could go for a nice bike ride this afternoon.

I mostly play in VR at night.... mostly.

Anyhow, happy to pushed you over to the Rift (man, that sounds weird with that bike ride mentioned... however I'm on another continent, so perfect alibi if something happens :p). It's still a joy to see someone enjoying VR as it should be :) Have fun.

Enjoy! Elite Dangerous is VR is just amazing.

I can see why some people say they could never go back to a flat screen.

The experience of VR in Elite surpasses easily the trade offs that are required.

Congrats.

For me. After getting VR I generally play less than I used to.
But feel more satisfied with my time spent playing.
So I don't think it would affect your progress negatively.

Thanks, and you're both right - I'm finding that it's a lot harder to be "idle" while playing. I can no longer watch netflix, or play on the forums, but that's OK because it causes me to focus on playing, which causes me to spend less time sitting around playing a video game.

Now my couple of hours in the late evening are much more fulfilling.

After VR, I definitely don't drink as much beer, while playing Elite!

Slight necro.

Survived the hurricane and weighed in at 196 this morning. Beat the hell out of my legs, running too much this week though.

Good excuse to get some rift time in this weekend :)
