Its "just" beta

Every time a poster bring up a valid point or error with the game people shout: "its only beta" or "it will be fixed before release".

So in other words. What do you miss now, find off or dislike but know will be 100% perfect before christmass this year? Since we all know its beta ...

My expectations:

-Much more content (missions, equipment, ships, spacethings to admire etc.)
-npc's with faces and funny hats like in Frontier Elite.
-much better communication ingame
-more options to track and bountyhunt or pirate
-more tools and reasons to explore other than different colored stars

What do you know will be in the game within a few months?

They are right, it is only beta ;)
I think the game is far from what it will be in gamma phase and release.
As Wavey1 said you can read all post from DDA, there is a lot intersting gameplay elements to read :)

Listening to David and Kerrash at Gamescon and on their live streams respectivly I can honestly say don't worry about a thing they are well aware of all the issues and everything you want will be there. David is a perfectionist he will only release something when it comes up to his meticulous standards. But everything is already there in various stages of polish..... ;)

Have you read the DDA as there are answers to your questions there ? http://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=36 :)

Which is why a lot of posters tend to respond with the whole "it's beta" thing. An awful lot of the stuff brought up in posts about possible features and current issues is covered in the "Holy Archive" as someone described the DDA the other day. I expect the majority (probably not quite all) of the features in the Holy Archivw to be live for gamma. Most looking forward to the exploration proposal to turn up.

I think we all know that the game won't be "finished" at Christmas. Then again, the developers don't plan to release it and move on either.

As long as they continue to add paid and unpaid content going forward, I'm pretty happy with that.

It may take another year or two after release to realize the full vision for this game. I'm fine with that, as long as I get to enjoy it along the way.

I find the DDA quite easy to read through ,you only need to read the title to have an idea if its what you are looking for :)

Trying to dig through pages of pages of random "noise" to find tidbits that describe something in a muddled way is probably not what the OP was after.

Seriously? 'random noise'?

It's called research, you know, the gaining of knowledge? The DDA goes out of its way to describe things in a clear and concise way to avoid confusion... hardly muddled.

The DDA is great, beautifully describing features which will make for an outstanding game. But there's a ton of stuff still to be added if they're going to get everything in the DDA in to game for launch. Many of the broad features aren't even in at all, let alone the detail and refinement that's outlined in there.

No doubt they're going about it the right way, getting the fundamentals down first. But it will be a tremendous pace to get everything anywhere near to done this side of new year.

This.

I wouldn't try to dredge through each thread, but I'd certainly recommend reading the OP for each thread to get an idea of the devs proposals. It's the main reason I stumped up for Premium Beta, because it gave me a clear idea of where the game was going. Otherwise how could I have the faintest of clues as to what the finished game would look like? How could I debate mechanics and improvements for the game in a sensible way if I didn't know what the devs have planned?

Not only is this a beta, it's a very unusual beta in that new features are being added en masse (betas are usually feature-frozen).

That's an odd way to describe the DDA. Maybe he just doesn't like to read, has poor reading comprehension, or a short attention span. I guess one mans pages and pages of random noise is another mans fascinating read?

+1 That's a good question. You can't argue in a sensible way about a subject you are ignorant of.

Sorry to butt in, not worth starting a new thread - can anyone explain where the fuel gauge is?

I just tried to play the game again. So far i've spent the last 90 minutes trying to find the fuel gauge.

I accepted a mission from the BBS. I was told at the time that i had enough fuel for the jump. Then i launched, but when i hit "J" i get a message saying FSD cancelled due to insufficient fuel. But i was full of fuel right before i launched? It said i had enough..

So anyway, i was wondering if there's a fuel gauge - or some other indication of fuel load. So that i can see how much fuel i'm carrying. That way i'll know how much fuel i have available. Type stuff.

I've searched all the status screens, cockpit hologram things, YT videos and tutorials etc., for the last 90 minutes, but still can't find the freakin' fuel gauge...

I know it's only a beta but can anyone clue me in here?

At this time (beta :))there is only the page you see when you first access station services that shows tank and reservoir, and a bar on the right side of the cockpit under the fuel use number. After having read the DDA on fuel :), It feels like fuel usage mechanics, information and jump ranges are in their first crude iteration, and a little buggy. I expect it to get better/more detailed.
