It's just not the same on a monitor :-/

I think jabokai works for Oculus or something every time I comment on it he gives me neg rep lol like that will change my opinion....)

It's because your opinion is based purely on other people's quotes, you've never even tried the thing, by your own admission. And the fact that a large portion of your post history is simply deriding this thing you've not tried, even in threads where it's not relevant.

The HMZ is a "portable" large screen TV, not a VR device. There is no headtracking, no positional tracking, no lenses to warp the image around your FOV. Even Sony knows this is not VR, that's why they're basically "cloning" the Rift for Project Morpheus, instead of further developing the (for VR purposes) inferior HMZ tech.

Better image quality for watching BlueRay on a virtual screen 15 feet in front of your face is NOT an important quality for VR. What is important is to get the tracking, latency, optics and FOV right. The screen quality on Oculus will get there. Since they've been partnering with Samsung we know they will get there. Its a matter of when, not if. And I am very much looking forward to see what Sony has up their sleeves too. They're certainly not sleeping in Japan, I'm sure they're working on an improved version of Morpheus as we speak.

Back to OP: I agree. Hope your PC gets back soon.

I have near perfect vision...

Then why can I see see other ships far outside the 6km scanner range whilst you appear to be unable to see past 1km?

Maybe it's because you have no idea what you're talking about, or maybe just no experience?..

The resolution really, really isn't an issue.

presumably when firing upon a ship and targeting a specific module it might be nice to see where it is located, but aside from that it ruins immersion..which is what it's all about no ?

You said that you'd actually used a DK2. Clearly you haven't, ever.

I'll stop feeding the troll now.

If you don't currently have or are planning to get an oculus rift, you shouldn't be on this forum. Seriously, this guy should be modded. It's pretty much the definition of trolling. It's pretty easy to see ships and hit hard points, especially since there is a giant red square to aim at.
Anyway, before being interrupted, yeah playing on a monitor sucks. I can't go back to using one. I'd just play something else in the mean time.
Playing shooters in the rift is awesome btw, quake 2 rocks in the rift.

It's quite funny really isn't it.
The OP owns a DK2 and is lamenting the fact that he can't use it because nothing else compares.
Yet we've still got some guy who hasn't used it telling him it's no good.

Why would reading text be difficult and seeing a small ship at distance be easy ? Seriously just trolling....

The HMZ I sold had a lot better picture quality than the DK2.. It's just a fact the HMZ picture is better, its's designed to watch 3d Bluerays...sigh
DK2 is for skinters in the main :p although they both have their limitations

Totally disagree. The HMZ is great if you just want to play on a big screen where as the DK2 provides an amazing immersive experience. I actually look forward to looking left and right to see my computer screens. The HMZ doesn't care which way you are looking, you still see the same image.

Sitting silently in an asteroid belts mining zone, looking around for the faint signs of laser fire kilometers out of scanning range to blast some criminals while listening to guardians of the galaxy OST was the best experience ever I had on my rift.

I honestly didn't know that I wasn't supposed to see them because of the resolution. /sarcasm

I really think that most people complaining on the rifts resolution are demoing it with their head perfectly still, like when you are on a monitor.. Starring at the pixels.

Moving my head around with the low persistence and latency removes all resolution issues. It sucks when you don't have the power for 75fps, then you hold your head still to combat sickness and resolution becomes an issue.
