Unless you're doing a clean install, you'll have a lot of the files already. The update added under 7GB of files to my hard drive.

Steam is still listing the file at 14.9GB. It might not work the same way as the Launcher version does. (I'm already past 7GB downloaded) I do like being able to play the LIVE game while downloading the Beta though. :)

Yep. Totally independent of the LIVE version. And don't forget... EVERYTHING you do in the Beta gets wiped when the 3.0 version goes live. So don't do anything in game you are not willing to do all over again in the final release. ;)

Correct. It should be a fairly recent copy of your Commander, but other than that it's totally independent. Things that you do in Beta won't affect non-Beta, and vice/versa.

Ok, in any case: it'll always show you the 16 GB (13 GB, whatever) as download size. That is the size of all the game files - it won't tell you (and probably doesn't "know" itself) until it's done whether it will get those files new from the FD server, or just copy them over from the old installation on your HDD.

So those 16 GB is the upper limit if all files in the beta were new - which they apparently aren't.

If you are on Steam, you can use the Steam Client to download the BETAs now. At least that way you can still play the LIVE game and download at the same time.

That's what I am doing. 45 minutes to go for me.
