To Mohrgan:
Compassion isn't a weakness. But saying it is compassionate to pamper is a very fatal misunderstanding of compassionate.
Be compassionate: Empower the player. That doesn't mean weaken the foe. Give them the tools to overcome the foe. Combat hints. Ship specs. Facts about balancing your ship. Experienced pilots to watch in combat to learn their tactics.
That is what 'empowering' the player is: And yes, that's compassionate, and that's what the community that says "please don't nerf the AI" is saying. We're not selfishly wanting to be 'the elite few'. We're wanting to raise the whole community a bar.
And I won't be bullied by a group of hyperbole using, baseless forum posters who desire to dumb-down the game and weaken our community. As you can see.
I want to help people that don't understand why they're being destroyed. That's what all of us protecting the integrity of this game are trying to do.
You're well intentioned, but misguided.

I think all of us here can agree, whether we aggressively fought the idea of dumbing down the AI again, or whether we were the ones quietly and politely offering advice (I admit, you've got more self control than me) - we're doing our best to make our community stronger, better, and more welcoming to anyone who wants to learn how to best their opponents.
Remember: There's always a pilot better than you, which means there's always one more rung on the ladder to climb up.
Compassion is not a weakness. I am perfectly fine with the state of the AI but, I realize it's not all about me. People don't want to admit they aren't up to a challenge. People don't want to face the barrage of 'it's your fault'. They come and complain to get relief. I have been converted. At first I even posted that I thought the complaints were akin to mass Hysteria over the news coming out of Beta.
But the complaints continue, and with strikingly similar observations. I take people at their word, and have an open mind. I won't be bullied by a faceless forum poster.
