It's Titan Time again!

Hey all,

Not logged on in a while, but am aware the next Titan is vulnerable now. I've attended the prior four (qualifying for the reward even though I was late to the first one) and wanted to keep things going. Now, for whatever reason, things never seem to go that smoothly for me. From instancing errors causing various weirdness, to outright CTD's. I'm hoping things are finally working a bit better.

I usually join on the Friday eve or Saturday when the thing is vulnerable, so arguably at the busiest time, so perhaps that's a factor. However, it's currently Thursday daytime and I'm in-game ready to assault the Titan. My Titan Bomber ship has arrived at the staging area, I'm in the pilot's seat and ready to go. Of course, I've totally forgotten how this stuff works in the interim lol. Joking, sort of.

Ship is the same one of used the last three times, just need to get back into the swing of it, so to speak. I've found Titan assaults to be particularly exhausting, mostly due to the variety of issues I've experienced, so hopefully it goes more smoothly this time.

How are others finding it? Smooth sailing with only intensional challenges to be faced, or a bit of a buggy mess...said bugs not being the Thargoid ones.

Are there any changes to things with this Titan? Some of the bugs I've experienced in the past, well, I wasn't always sure if it was a bug or some intended new behaviour at the time. Turns out they were bugs. My main issues last time, if I remember correctly, were crashes during the approach through the caustic area, and the Titans torus effect extending well beyond the previously safe asteroid field. That one caught me out and I assumed it was a change, some others did not experience it but plenty of us did.

Were you playing in Open or in a large PG?

In small PG or Solo I did not experience any crash or bug.

I was deliberately in a small PG - just a handful of us - and I was the only one online last time, and still had issues. I think the second Titan encounter was by far the least glitchy. Sure, I had the issues where the Pineapple was refusing to deploy after hitting the vents, but other than that it was smooth.

Not attempted this Titan yet, had some other stuff (not game) to do first. Now feeling a bit tired. Typical lol.

In solo it's been a smooth sailing for me. It's a game of stealth and patience—don't rush, don't get greedy and let the wasp's nest calm down before poking it again🙂 At worst I've seen a few Cyclops and once a Glaive patrolling in the background—easily avoidable. I've taken more damage from crashing into asteroids while boosting away from the Titan backwards FA off during the torus phase (ooh, pruddy lights!) than from thargoids🤪

I think I might try SOLO this time if the PG is glitchy. I am the only member online currently though...but that didn't help last time. Yeah, I'm all about the stealth too, cold ship and I lurk a while before I move in.

Solo should definitely theoretically be as stable as it gets, because all the game needs to worry about is your own instance, with no possibility of anyone else ever joining in on it (but I've heard wonkiness can occur in Open and possibly PG as well even when no other players are around so I suspect it may in some way be related to keeping the instance "open" to other players that can result in weird funkiness occurring).

Yeah. Same impressions on my part. No bugs in Solo.

So far, the approach has been fine, no bugs or crashes there. However, when I arrived at the Titan, it took several minutes before the vents opened. The Pineapple deployed fine though. I got several good hits on it, but got FAR less bonds than I usually would for one full volley like that. Having to go back around again.

Managed to get back into the asteroids while under a LOT of fire, cool down and repair - just some hull, modules fine. Torus effect did not trigger, has it been removed as it was so buggy last time? Just about to go in again...

Second time around, BUGGED! Vents took a while to open again, then closed the moment I hit the first one. Pineapple still deployed and I got several good hits but NONE were counted. Torus effect DID trigger this time, extended well beyond the asteroid field. That attack was TOTALLY wasted due to bugs. Are they not capable of getting this to work reliably? Will try again... I wonder if they'll do the whole "you were in the area, that's enough" for the reward again due to issues?

II forgot to switch to solo, still in my Private group, no one else online though....

Try solo vs pg or open. When I watch streamers doing Indra runs, they seem to find alot of issues just like you are describing @Scoob . When I make runs in solo, I am not seeing any of those issues.

I did have one solo instance where the scouts and interceptors seemed very aggressive, so after making a few runs (securing my 2 mil) I exited and came back a half hour later. 2nd instance was not filled with aggressive goids. Also no npc repair guy yet, they seem to show up after a few or several Titan hearts have gone down, when the aggressive goids are more common

It's so weird how inconsistent this kind of thing is. I attacked Indra in Open yesterday and experienced no technical issues whatsoever. It wasn't too busy, just a few other players. Even my frame rate was pretty good.

But there have been times when the game just completely soils itself and CTDs.

I was going to log to Solo, however, as I was at the Titan and logging would likely reset me to elsewhere I give it one more run...

Again, the vents took a while to open, several minutes, but I was sat there cold until they did. I think I suffered from some sort of issue though, as my temperature was stuck at 20%, not the usual 17% with weapons deployed. After a moment, it suddenly dropped to 17%, where it usually can be seen to drop gradually, 20, 19, 18, 17 and perhaps 16% Regardless, I was evidently still cool enough not to be spotted by the distressing number of large ships and scouts I could see some distance from me.

The vents opened and I went in, only managing to tag FOUR before they closed - they're certainly not opening for as long as before, as six or seven would be my norm here. Never managed the full eight though. Regardless, the Pineapple deployed and I got some solid hits in before fleeing. I either dodged better or took far less fire than before, with my hull barely scratched.

The Torus effect triggered and I think I caught the very edge of it, however it DID NOT extend beyond the asteroid field this time, so other than a bit of a wobble from the ship controls, I escaped clean. I sat in the asteroid field for a bit to check the state of my ship - hardly damaged - checked how much in bonds I'd gained for that run (just over two million, that's more like it) and then set a route back to the staging system I launched from.

After passing through the caustic region - one Caustic Sink to spare - I did not counter the repulsion field thing to exit the area more quickly. Likely took a few points of damage, didn't check, but nothing to worry about. I cleared mass-lock and jumped.

This one instance shows how varied things can be, let's summarise the issues encountered, some might be legit changes I guess:

- Vents not opening for several minutes. They've opened more promptly for me before.
- Vents close again VERY quickly, sometimes within five seconds of opening. Pineapple still deploys, but...
- Pineapple deploys fairly reliably, several good solid volleys (AX Missiles) on target, but many / all of the hits not counted (zero bonds awarded)
- Torus effect will still sometimes extend beyond the asteroid field / work perfectly / not trigger at all. Damage seems lessened though.
- I had a minor issue with my Repair Drones between runs. I was getting false "Limpet already attached" (or whatever the message is) and my limpet would destruct.
- While my hull was damaged, I also had limpets sometimes immediately saying that repairs were complete, yet they'd not started.
- I guess I lost about five or six limpets due to these issues. I was carrying 32 so not a problem.

I was really not very happy initially with this instance, but thankfully it improved. The last run was fun, the prior two annoying due to the issues.

I think I've planned things well, a good ship and I'm piloting competently as least. However, the bugs really do spoil the fun. I'm exhausted from this already, so will not be doing another run now I've "Qualified" for the reward - I have just shy of 3 million in Bonds ready to cash in.

I made 2 visits, both in Solo.
First visit was plagued by mauve adders and a somewhat dodgy throttle that's probably on the way out. The mauve adders result in running through my caustic sinks, forcing the abort.
Second visit, a few hours later and no mauve adders though the throttle remains dodgy.
No other issues and I was able to unload all my missiles into the target.

I don't recall seeing a Mauve Adder (any idea what that means?) during any of my Titan runs. Had a proper CTD one time with no messages, but no coloured snakes that I recall.

What do you mean by dodgy throttle? Not responsive or not working? My ship did feel very sluggish to respond at times today, which I found odd as it's a pretty nimble build. It was like it was flying through thick atmosphere, not responding like it does in normal space. I wondered if this was an intended effect, as it seemed to go away once I cleared the caustic cloud area on the way out.

A Mauve Adder is a connection problem.
ie, I have somewhat dodgy internet.

Dodgy throttle; I have a Thrustmaster T16000 HOTAS, this has had issues when I zero or max throttle often putting me to quarter throttle which can make it difficult to land/hover/outrun a swarm of irate aliens...

These are all issues on my end and not related to the particular scenario.

Ah, thanks. I sympathise as I had a terrible connection for years. It was generally fairly stable, luckily, and had decent enough ping, however, it was just 2.5mbps down at best and barely 1.0mbps up. Then, out of the blue one day, there were some guys outside laying fibre...down our dead-end rural lane 1.6km from the nearest regular cabinet. Not a flex, just still traumatised from those poor internet days...

Throttle issue, I see. Friend had issues on his stick, regular phantom inputs. It'd generally send fake "Deploy landing gear", activate FSD, turn lights on etc. game signals. Literally, any mapped button on the throttle (but not stick) could randomly be sent. It turns out the USB port he was using was weak, not providing quite enough power so the stick gave spurious signals. Once plugged into one of the higher power ports - I think they're red, and can be used to charge things - he had no more issues.

Just tried in AXI PG, but it's unplayable right now, frame rates below 10 near the thing, and myriads and myriads of Scouts. On the other hand, no hyperdictions at all, and Indra is only 3.4k ls out. Ok, so Solo then, hope performance is better there.

O7,
🙃

I did a few runs in Mobius PG earlier today with zero issues. I was hyperdicted on the way and interdicted six times on the supercruise which seemed a lot for such a short journey. Winged up with a random Cmdr and piggy backed their runs to get some bombing in, would’ve returned the favour but the only issue I had was WMR crashing and booting me out of the game.

That aside, even in VR with other Cmdrs around all was working well.

No issues of note doing Titan of the Month in Solo. Somewhat slow aperture openings, yes, but that was the only thing that was a little out of the ordinary.

No chance for me to attend. Sadly, because this ship kit:

😢
Well... Another loss for me
(and another dissapointment about this game, along with wishing to E:D finally rest in peace).
