Nah, just double to the the head and move on. Problem solved.
You often come across twitching bodies stuck in walls or the floor. Again, a double tap just to make sure.
I did have the situation where one NPC was showing on my SRV and suit scanner, but could not find him. Using my suit scanner I moved around until I was stood next to a body. A double tap turned him into a dead body that no longer showed up on the scanners.
