I've managed to completely stop GOD RAYS on Oculus Rift

lol

you also managed to stop any form of presence or wow factor of being in your ship at the same time ;)

joking aside, do you really feel god rays are such a problem that you find a monitor more enjoyable?

too each their own of course but to me that is a bit like ditching your page 3 girlfriend because she has an annoying spot on her backside.
(or cutting your nose off to spite your face)

I tried adjusting the UI colours which I think have helped a bit. Most of the god rays are from those. If FD could allow us to adjust the colours in-game (with presets) that would be good. Also, if they could allow us VR users to adjust brightness even more than they currently have. I personally think I could reduce the brightness of the UI another 50% and still easily be able to see all text. This would reduce god rays substantially.

With the god rays for me it does feel like a filter is over the entire screen. Blacks are not deep black, but saying that, now I'm using the debug tool and pushing the pixel density to 3.0 the overall experience is fantastic ! Text is clear/sharp and everything looks great. Distant objects still shimmer a bit. The immersion is just so much better. BY the way, any people suffering from nausea should probably invest in some sea bands. Very cheap and I've not suffered with sickness since using these ! :)

I have a 1080gtx with pixel density at 3.0 and everything on Ultra/High. The game is very good like this !

sweet! I was fully expecting to have to buy a GTX 1080 once CV1 came out however I have been pleasantly surprised how well my gtx980 copes.... so despite the gtx 1080 being superb (probably better than i expected) I think i am going to hold off.

I may re-evaluate once the 1080ti comes out HOWEVER equally i may try and pick up a 1080 cheap once the 1180 comes out.

You gotta wait for the 1280! :D

The thing that concerns me with the lenses is that if they do (horror of horrors) get scratched, do I have to get a brand new Rift ?

Sea bands really work? I might have to try that as I get a little quesy not really bad but enough that this might help thanks

Well, they do for me. I'll do a proper test tomorrow whilst driving around in the SRV but I haven't felt one bit sick whilst using them. It might be placebo effect but who cares as long as it works :)

I'd also ask FD to allow the left and right controllers (when using keyboard for example) to be adjusted so that it doesn't turn so quickly. I find that the very sharp ability of the SRV to turn is what made me feel very sick prior to the sea bands.

Want to test them try flying around the outside of your ship with the external camera and flip around. That gets me every time.

Ginger is also reputedly very good (and great for those not seeking medicinal alternatives).

What's a seaband?
Ah, got it, accupressure at P6 joint on the wrist.

Every time you notice the godrays just think of it as your being blessed and your going to heaven after someone blows you out of space.

The teardown video on Utube referred to the lenses as non-removable, even though they removed them. It is unlikely that Oculus would chip replacement lenses, but I imagine one could RMA the HMD in for repair. The lenses apparently get micro scratches if not cleaned very gently. There are several recommended cleaning methods. Avoid using the supplies cloth dry (only damp to avoid grinding in dirt. Non alcoholic camera lens cleaner. The best recommend I read was to clear dust the way astronomers clean telescopes by hovering your mouth above the lens without touching and sucking as a first step then a very light camera brush if necessary. The lens will get micro scratches over time but you shouldn't see them while in vr being so close.
