ANNOUNCEMENT January Update - Patch Notes

What do you think will happen with Fleet Carriers? I bet there'll be a good few down turned mouths,
Well... based on this....

You will get to order your FC from a nearby base, which jumps at the weekly tick. Range is 500Ly, in 20Ly increments. 25 if you engineered it with G6 mats (coming post patch in 2021 Feb update, which patches the "major content".
You might be able to carry 6 ships... but... let's not go there. 6 SLF and we have to be happy with it.

"Added names for a selection of systems in the Witch Head Sector "

Names imply purpose, does no one wonder what fDev have hidden over in an area that is largely surrounded by permit locks?
Indeed, now there are named systems around there, I looked at the galmap also. Maybe someone could search for references or something, I didn't, because those names looked really boring. Also way too busy with Bible studies and learning Koine Greek and Aramaic languages (ܝܫܘܥ was actually a prophet from Raxxla, FDev just doesn't know it yet)

Well there have been settlements over there since the second Interstellar Initiative (The Enclave) way back last year, these settlements now have system names of only a few letters instead of several words.

Palins apprentice has a base out there and the 3 major powers had just started BGS when the Thargoid came back but they have been pushed back and station repair has started again.

Nothing hidden has been reported so far but the thread about The Enclave in the II sub forum is being updated with local news.

That would be because we're not looking at what's been done, only whinging about old issues... well I am anyway!
Well spotted, makes me wonder 'for what purpose'

Trading
  • Added supply and demand volumes for certain, high-end minerals. Now, trading goods such as Void Opals is more realistic; markets can still offer a high buy price, but they will offer less as the demand is met. As part of this change, these high-end minerals will now be demanded more by specific economy types. This change will affect the following commodities:
    • Alexandrite
    • Benitoite
    • Grandidierite
    • Low Temperature Diamond
    • Monazite
    • Musgravite
    • Painite
    • Rhodplumsite
    • Serendibite
    • Void Opal

What's the rate of drop-off of how much they'll offer, has anyone calculated it yet?

Fix old issues, not add more. They added even more than we can count.

Care listing all of those "countless issues" that's been added? Because the main ones are: broken CZ, stuttering (already fixed) and networking in Supercruise. They are still bad, yes, but saying that FDEV adde "more issues that we can count" is either very unfair or just means you can't count to 4 ;)

Care to detail that "networking in Supercruise" one ? Been doing wing missions and BHing with friends all weekend, haven't notice anything in supercruise except that the movement in SC of my friends who have slow internet was smoother. So I'm curious.

That said, this week's patch (coming on consoles with the stuttering fix we already got on pc) will have some more bugfixes in it (and will release on pc as well). So the ones you're mentioning may very well be on the list of fixes.

Connection issues, the broken mining nerf, random disconnects (looking at you Mauve Adder), the stuttering shouldn't have made it to production in the first place, and these are the ones I noticed from my end, plus whatever others have found and reported.

Well, ppl talk here too: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...unless-you-remain-focused-on-the-body.535812/

As I understood current fix of the "geo" is assumed "worse" then even was.
Actually, I think it is. Scan never ends if I didn't wait it on FSS or map mode. Old days it was autocomplete any way some time later. "Bug" days it was autocomplete even faster. Now must wait each to complete either FSS or map. Also switch from FSS to map at least pauses "completness", worse case - restarts it (not sure exact).

I am not sure that connection issues and random disconnects were introduced in January I have had those from time to time for over four years and none of those times has been since the update or patch.

Apparently people are disappearing from other people's scanners in Supercruise. I've not experienced that myself, but I believe it's been confirmed bug by FDEV.

OK, so 5 not 4 (1 of which was already fixed). Still far from "countless". They fixed many more than they've introduced and while I agree there should be zero new bugs in a patch that pitches itself as a massive bugfixing experience, "countless new issues" is a massive exaggeration and just being dramatic for the sake of it.

Speaking for myself, I flew quite a lot in VR on the weekend (including taking part in the Hutton Trucker event) and all I can say is that it was a buttersmooth experience and generally better than anything since they introduced the new lighting. Plus the graphics look better for some reason, more details and sharper IMHO. Can't complain about the patch, the CZ is the only major issue left for me so far. Much better than having to deal with broken Fleet Carriers at this point anyway.

O7,
🙃
