Joystick Curves utility no longer works - xedocproject account suspended! [SOLVED]

I don't get why players have to jump through so many third party hoops to make ED playable. I expect playability out the box when buying a game.
It's fine out of the box, even with the Thrustmaster HOTAS. This has nothing to do with Elite. It's about choosing to use 3rd party software to modify the response curves for our joysticks so we can do things like devote a larger throw on the stick to fine control around the center point. Particularly handy for the cheaper Thrustmasters since they tend to be a bit sloppy and only get worse over time. If you're looking for someone to blame then send an angry letter to Thrustmaster, not Frontier (on this occasion).

It's not a game's task to let you adjust joystick curves; it is the manufacturer's responsibility to supply a proper tool for that. Some fail hard at that by supplying nothing at all and make you use 3rd party tools, some offer a very comprehensive tool to not only adjust the curve, but also save them to the device instead of a piece of software somwhere in the pipeline. VKB does. I assume Virpil also does. I guess you get what you pay for; buy a cheap stick, be prepared for no proper support at all (yes, I am looking at you, TM and Logitech).

But hey, Frontier bad. Another cross on the BINGO chart for today.

I played ED with HOTAS, the general controls were OK but FAOFF was completely uncontrollable without setting curves. I couldn't be bothered looking for curve 3rd party stuff. DCS let's you tweak the curves, e.g.

It is perfectly playable "out of the box" - keyboard and mouse does the job fine...

Try setting up a Virpil HOTAS on Scam Citizen or X4....
Yer, I have VKB HOSAS and VKB Pedals, takes ages to set up a new game :(
With X4 I play it more like a Fleet Manager game then a Flight Sim, so I just stick with Keyboard and Mouse (or as I like to call it Paper and Crayons) for that.

As for Joystick Curves I used to use it all the time until I switched to VKB, as VKB has its own Tool for Curves and Macros etc.
Glad to see there are work arounds for Joystick Curves.

X4 works surprisingly well with KB/M. I tried it after having bad experience with sticks. Now I basically dont use the stick anymore.

Personally I use Joystick Gremlin so I can't really tell if it works. But I just compiled a "dev" version without all of the installer/updater stuff attached to it.
You can try if that one works for you.
It opens up for me without the need to modify the hosts file, but I can't tell if it needs any additional settings.

Let me know if it helped :)

Hm seems like I cannot attach a zip file here? So I'll go with an external link:
Do you still have a copy or some mirror of that?

Ninjad. (y)

Confirmed. Works
I used 0.0.0.0 but both address do the same. o7

0.0.0.0 is reserved for "this host, this network" so in this case on a personal network it's functionally the same as "localhost" but "localhost" only refers to the PC and not the network itself. There are other technical uses for 0.0.0.0 that could cause problems if you were doing a lot of network engineering, but in this case it should be fine.

Fortunately Joystick Curves network lookup is pretty simple. Xedocproject.com returns a network response, therefore JoyC jumps to it's next routine and tries connecting to the server, where it fails, because it is offline. By re-directing that address to a non-replying IP address like 0.0.0.0, JoyC just skips the whole thing and proceeds to load.
I never tried Localhost but if you have a webserver running (which I do) it could fail. Maybe someone can try it out. I'm too lazy and I have enough IT from 9-5 to bother.

I need advice for X45 in W10. In the last days I resort more and more to KB&M, but I miss the pleasure of some hard stick in my hand.

What program do you recommend? I heard that some players went for mantained Joystick Gremlin, instead Joystick Curves.

I used DXTweak2, but Windows10 don't save my deadzones or config. As soon as I enter space, my joy start drifting, and calibrate is a problem with all the noise in the center, or some movement limitation in some AXIS (DIY repairs and no-original torsion springs).

Its ok if I need to change all the keys ID from the Hotas to a simulated vJoy, or something like this.

Thanks. In the la

Elite has it's own deadzone settings for all axis, if that is all you need. Curves are not included. I user Joystick Curves for that.
I also use Joystick Gremlin but only for combining my G27 gas+clutch pedals into a single rudder axis.

My YAW rate have a center around 40%, with one side 0-35% and the other side 45-100%. I need some program that save a different center and curve (angled line) ratio.

Its the second time doing the same repair, and I don't expect to change my second hand HOTAS: Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/qppp08/thruster_malfuntion_in_mid_combat_im_out/

Have you tried re-calibrating it? First, plug in your stick into a different USB. Run the Windows joystick dialogue (joy.cpl). Select your device and Properties and the Settings tab. Click Reset to default and then Calibrate. If the Settings tab is hidden you can trick it to appear by holding down Shift key and then pressing Properties.

Yes, I tried multiple times. But somewhat Windows10 remove all my calibrations. I ALWAYS start with some drift. Maybe is the noise on the center, that sometimes on start is on 41% and other is on 51%, and use this as center.

Thats why a program with visuals for the curves will be great. And provide more info than calibration. W10 tools are the minimal working ones.

Most likely your joystick twist potentiometer is worn out or dirty. This is quite common, unfortunately. Clean and/or replace them.
Joystick Curves does still work with ED though. So does Gremlin. I use them both every day. They are really the only two options
out there. Give them both a try and use the one you like.

Make sure you install vJoy (with the small "v") also.

Eurgh, god - I've screwed up my JoystickCurves installation again.

I think the problem is actually the vJoy driver.

Stupidly I decided to try Joystick Gremlin. Couldn't get it to work but in the process I've now screwed up my vJoy install and can't get it working again.

Typically the latest vJoy installer (2.19) says it needs to reboot the PC but when I do so I end up in a loop (the reboot just running the installer again which asks me to reboot again and so on). If I cancel and run vJoy Conf anyway I just get the following and the driver seems not to work.

Anyone got any ideas?
