Jump in the deep sea

Hi Commanders,

I'm Commander Zwickou and I'm a fresh Pilot. I only play the game for one week now but I'm already amazed by everything. All the possibilities, all the gameplay, the graphism, the community and the History of great achievments.

But above all I see, the Exploration seems to be the greatest adventure.
So after a couple of walk (~500-800 ly) I said to myself :

"Hey, maybe it's time to push the limit of the safety and go for far far away with the possibility to end your life in a painful death"
"Seems pretty cool idea Commander Zwickou"
"Thanks Commander Zwickou"

So the idea is to go from Cubeo to Colonia, but not in a straight line, more in a curve. I will follow the Orion-Cygnus Arm, wrap the Sagittarius A* to finish in Colonia (I hope [big grin])

The route :

The vessel here will be the DBX, which I randomly purchase but at least it was not a bad purchase [noob]

The beautiful "Emerald Voyager" ! (I'm not sure if it really means something, but hey, sounds good)

So if you have somme advice or tips, I'll take it [smile]

I will try to take some screenshots on my way (and try not to stupidly die)

(sorry if my english not that good)

Have fun!

Since you're following an arm, you won't have any problems with range so you can use any DBX layout you like.

DBX is a good ship - but if you posted your loadout (e.g. as a Coriolis link), you might get a few pointers.

Additionally, it would be good know
- do you have Horizons or the base game only?
- since you only play for one week, have you already unlocked the first Engineers?

Oh, and welcome to the Forums.

Personally, I very much like how you'll be flying up a galactic arm instead of beelining straight to your destination. Bon voyage!

Thanks [smile]

So it seems the reply I wrote at 1pm was not submit ... strange, maybe because I'm new on the forums and it needs the approuval of Mod ? (and do you know if it's the reason why I can't edit my post ?).

So I was saying that yes I have purchase Horizons too and I have unlocked two engineers :
- Elvira Martuuk
- Felicity Farseer

But I don't start the quests with any of them.

For the DBX, here is the Coriolis :

And for the record, I'm already gone on my journey.
The impetuosity of the new [haha]

Suggested Exploration Build (without engineering) https://eddp.co/u/ikLi1SSr (36Ly range)
This will give you the best possible jump range and refueling rate

Suggested build with engineering mods https://eddp.co/u/UYmsYCc1 (55Ly range)

Never go with less than an A rated FSD, unless you just really can't afford an A. The difference in jump range is significant.
For a trip that long you will want the best range you can get. Save money on other modules but don't skimp on the FSD.

Always fit the best fuel scoop you can afford. On a trip like that you will want to minimize refueling time.
A 4C fuel scoop costs less than a 3B and scoops faster.

D rated modules weigh less and so improve your jump range even more.

Yes on botch counts - you'll need a hnadful of posts approved by the mods before you're allowed off the leash.

Ah well, you'll learn. The Galaxy is big :D

Either of the two will give you some upgrades worthwhile for exploration - your loadout looks somewhat masochistic to me. Major Klutz has posted some better suggestions. It's not just about the FSD range (for your route, anything above ~25 ly is ok, if you have the patience), but the DBX already has a rather small scoop in relation to tank size and ship mass, and by not using one of two size 4 slots for the scoop, you're not really making the best out of this ship.

But in any case, have fun, and keep us posted about your progress.

Holy damn, indeed, the specs you show me, Major Klutz, are way better than what I have ! And yeah, they seem less masochistic [haha]

I'll work on that when I'll come back.

So, pretty slow for the moment, only ~1200ly from sol but took some screen on the way.
I think I will store them on imgur and only post the most "intersting" one.

SO I was quietly chilling to take some pictures a little bit cliché :

And then behind, bam, solar flare :

Now I look at them a little bit further :D

But I look at planet too

EDIT : I was thinking, since I'm not that much far away from the bubble, should it be better to go home to upgrade my ship with a better FSD and Fuel scoop ?
