Jump range on a Clipper?

I dont remember the stock one, but the top A5 FSD max jump range is 15ly, with full, 248 tons cargo (5 mils). The one you want is B5, which has 12ly range (1.7 mil).

Yeah I just bought my A5 about half an hour ago - 5,103,953 credits. I get 20.78LY unladen, 15.19 with 248 tons of cargo. Stock laden jump range was around 7.5 LY :/

Oh and get yourself a B3 Fuel scoop, it is incredibly cheap but is the third fastest scoop for the clipper, I spent 2 million on a scoop thinking it was good, the 100,000 credit scoop is three times as fast (150kg/s) The Clipper has a tiny tank for such a huge ship. Apart from that the ship is perfect, would never sell mine.

As much as I love the clipper, I wouldn't use it for exploring, the cobra or asp are far better suited for that role. Saying that, I get slightly better range out of my clipper than quoted above - 22.5 Ly unladen, 16.5 lying fully laden with 240 cargo (I daren't take the shield off).

Once you get to the stage that you can afford a clipper with all the trimmings, you'll find you can afford othe specialist ships easy enough - I have a viper for combat and asp for exploration (shameless i'm rich plug! :p )

20.78 is pitiful for exploring  I think I'll pass on it for now and use the creds I've saved for a top FSD for my Asp.

Yep it's definitely not for exploring, although I would happily take it to any nearby nebulae. for me the Clipper is about doing rare trade and cargo runs in luxury, she's faster then a Cobra although more than 4 times the weight fully loaded, it carries more cargo than a Type-7. Mine is also equipped with Torps and missiles, so it packs a real punch when I go hunting.

In my opinion it also has the best view in the rift, I used to think the Lakon's had the best view until I got my Clipper. It flies beautifully, it's a massive heavy ship with lot's of inertia, yet I can outrun everything except a Viper.

I wasn't expecting to like it so much, all I've wanted since Beta was a Type-9 & a Kitted out Cobra

My ASP is configured for long range exploring. I doubt I'll do any major exploring until next year if/when planetary landings are in the game.

If you have to save to buy an FSD for your ASP, then the Clipper is not for you, it is insanely expensive to run. It's basically a big toy to indulge in, I guess that sums up the Empire!
