Hutton Orbital takes c. 90 minutes. It is one of a very few stations a long distance from the entry point.

There another topic about this also. Jump directly to a mapped planet in a system you have personally been.
I don't see needing to use multiple topics of the same thing.
First, welcome to Elite.
Second, it is part of the game, maybe unnecessarily unfun, but that's how the game works, being everything inside a system so the star forge and simulation work fine together. All objects must be in the same system to work fine. And well, we have become used to it. There have been some suggestions about how to make it funnier, like introduce a mini-game like the interdiction but I have never heard any news about implementing something like that. So, it's a bitter drink that we should swallow.
BTW, if you are at Hutton's don't forget to load up your cargo full of Centauri Mega Gin, at least one Hutton mug, and pick up your free Anaconda.

Here an idea. Instead of complaining about the distance of a secondary star. Start using some common sense when you play. If you don't use the Mission board Galaxy map or buying system data. The fault lies with you.
Maybe not ongoing work, but they've been open to it in the past, IE:
We definitely want to add a micro jump between stars within a system (not only does this fit in with the context of how the frame shift drive uses large bodies for navigation, it also helps significantly with those systems where you currently arrive around the "wrong" star, where civilisation has set up camp around a different star in the system). And despite some "internal resistance", the last we heard was "we haven't come to a conclusion yet, on whether we should do it"

Everything is a valid topic, but we currently have I think three simultaneous threads going about the same topic so maybe people are saying why don't we keep it to the one thread per week at most, that way it won't cause to may problems with the forum drinking game.
Mini jumps to a star in the same system have been proposed many times, by many players. Sadly FDev doesn't see the value of such a mechanic.
FDev would not even have to make it possible for all sister stars. There could be limitations: natural ones and artificial ones.
I think this would not just add convenience, but could also add interesting gameplay to Elite, with interesting decisions for players to make.
A proposal concerning supercruise and mini jumps that I posted long ago:
I love supercruise. It is a magnificent addition to this spacesim.
It is the perfect balance between extremely fast spacetravel and still being awed by the enormity of the universe.
Soaring past a beautiful star or planet is still a thrill and I must have done it thousands of times by now.
As far as far away locations in a system are concerned... I simply don't travel where I do not want to go.
I won't go to Hutton because it is too far away and has nothing to offer for my troubles.
I would like changes to supercruise.
CHANGE 1.
I want more player agency. I want to have more influence on flying in supercruise, more piloty things to do.
This could be done via pip management for example.
CHANGE 2.
I also want the HUD to change its layout in supercruise with new HUD elements, just like it changes when you approach a planet.
I am sure FD could make something up to make it look cool and different and appropriate for Supercruise.
CHANGE 3.
I would like to be able to do in-system minijumps to other stars in the same system.
There could be rules for this to be possible:
1. A second star has to be at least 50.000 ls (just an arbitrary number) removed from the main star for example.
2. You might need to fly 1000 ls away from the main star to be able to do a minijump
3. Minijumps might cause light damage to the FSD
4. Minijumps might consume a lot of fuel, because... reasons.
5. We might have to buy an expensive modification for the FSD to make minijumps possible.
6. Minijumps might not be possible to certain star types.
7. Some stations (like military stations) might use mini jump inhibitors to prevent enemy fleets from jumping to them.

Definitely agree with this.
Direct jumps to secondary stars is something that quite a few players have asked for, because it also makes sense.
I don't need microjumps within a system, or any increase in SC speeds if we could have this.
So for Sirius, I would not be able to jump from Sirius A to B. But from outside the system, i would be able to jump direct to B.
I think it's a fair compromise.
Maybe someone can confirm this. But it seems like the same small group that supports the same terrible idea over and over again.

Hey - how about you confirm this? If it’s the same small group of people requesting this over and over again, it should be easy to find and list the names.
Also, let’s compare it to the size of the group of people who consistently oppose any changes to SC.
Here an idea. Instead of patronising new players because they make a perfectly reasonable suggestion in the Suggestions forum. Start using common sense when you read the threads. If you don't realise the reason this topic comes up so frequently is because lots of people find super cruise boring. The fault lies with you.
Just address the proposals instead of making dismissive insinuations.
Well, I see this as normal. People are always out to defend their positions. So it's not surprising that this crowd of players would try their utmost to discredit or even make insinuations about people who want to change the mechanics of the game, because it simply threatens the status quo that they're comfortable with. That's why I don't get discouraged. I'll just keep adding on and on, and piling it on and on. The more you push an idea persistently, you will find people who agree with you and build a momentum.
Back to the post proper. Yes, jumping to secondary stars make sense. Semantically and scientifically.
You will also notice that some of the secondary stars are equivalent, and in some cases, of greater mass than the designated A-star.
It would only make sense that you can lock on to a secondary or even tertiary star in the system, if you can already lock on to the primary.
There is no real reason not to.
The only limitation is artificial. And that is basically FDEV wanting to prolong travel time in the game because they lack any other way to either portray a sense of scale, or perhaps they just want us to be busy for longer, hence dragging our playing time out and keeping us playing. Or maybe I'll just be blunt. Lack of any other way to keep us occupied. ie. lack of other content to engage us.

I had a bit of spare time, so decided to do this myself!
The table below lists users who are in favour of changing the current SuperCruise mechanic in some way ('FOR'), and those who are against changing it in any way ('AGAINST'), with links to the user's relevant comment expressing their view.
I've been very careful to select those who are 'For' changes to SuperCruise. These are people who have said they are not opposed to changes to SuperCruise, although they're specific implementation of any such changes may differ (some may support intra-system jumps, others prefer fast acceleration/deceleration, directly targeting secondary stars, etc...). The point is they are not entirely opposed to the idea of modifying SuperCruise in some form or another.
Those who are 'Against' have said they like how SuperCruise is right now and don't want to see it changed, and have not expressed any particular desire for compromise.
I have avoided adding people who have expressed no preference either way, or whose comments cannot really be taken seriously.
