Just bought Elite. Already made my first mistake!!

Should be an easy fix, go to settings , Downloads and change the server. Can often be that one server is busy but the others aren't. One time the London and Manchester ones were slow so I used New York. Worked fine.

Another mistake is taking on an Anaconda with a Sidewinder. It's like taking on the QE2 with a kids' tricycle.

Welcome aboard and remember to have fun playing the way you want, within the games rules. Comms are kinda wacky to use but I have yet to run into someone in game who hasn't responded to questions or help.

I had this problem for an update. It would not download.

Close Steam client, including the icon on the right lower side of your screen. Restart it. I'll bet your client needs to upgrade. Let it do its thing and try again.

Steam is 400% faster than downloading from Frontier directly.

If you are still having problems it could be that your regional steam download server is under unduly heavy traffic, with the summer sale in full swing that would not be a huge surprise. Try changing your download server, go into steams settings and the download page, and change to another download location, you will have to restart steam. This will only work if you live in Europe or the US, some other countries have region locked content so switching to more obscure download servers may not allow you to download purchased content licensed for your region; but for most people switching the download server works just fine.
