Powerplay Just curious, but who else here hates the Alliance and Mahon? :D

Curious about any other players that hate the Alliance and have the backbone to admit it in this forum.

I don't like them because they are always in first place, have more subjugated Federal worlds than independent ones (I believe. Need to check.), and play peek-a-bo instead of just playing in SOLO or OPEN mode.

What are your reasons? Real and/or just roleplaying.

> I don't like them because they are always in first place

What? It's not exactly our fault that the other powers are incapable of catching up with us. The Feds tried smacking us around about a year ago, and the outcome of that didn't exactly end up in their favour.

If you don't like Mahon, why not grow a backbone and start opposing us and helping out some of the other powers instead of just complaining about how Mahon is bad for being good at it?

> have more subjugated Federal worlds than independent ones

This is true at the moment, but we're working on it.

> and play peek-a-bo instead of just playing in SOLO or OPEN mode.

Ehh ... what?

Martin! My man! The pimp himself!

We are opposing you Martin. You just haven't noticed it yet, but i'm sure you will. Oh and we're also working WITH other powers. 4 currently. I'll let you guess who they are.

Always a pleasure talking to you. For the sake of the game, somebody has got to not like you guys and it surely isn't the bulk of the Imperials, heh. ;-) Don't take it personal bro. It's just a game.

(I don't think the peek-a-boo reference really needs an explanation.)

Calrissian > Mahon is not first in everything though- system flipping Mahon is a very average 4th currently. I'm assuming its your commanders doing the BGS attacks on the Alliance these days?

In fact, check out Utopias BGS stats. Out of 703 systems, 517 are totally independent, with the rest either Federal or Imperial and one Alliance system.

I havent played in a couple of weeks and the way things are going i may never play again, but i was pledged mahon and except for cg's almost always played in open. I did quite a bit of violent undermining in open without any RNGineers cheats and have even gotten killed by other cmdrs, presumably for the bounties i had accrued :)

I pledged alliance because it seemed to me the other choices were either slavers, facists, cranks or ants.

Federation systems: 735
Alliance systems: 345
Independent systems: 555

Mahon has more than double the number of Federation vs Alliance systems and MUST PAY! :p :D

Frontier has such a vast game, creates a Tri-Power system, and all they can come up with is Federation vs Imperial ALL THE DAMN TIME! Nobody is making any gains except the Alliance. Whether by simply being ignored or manipulation of the other powers and we simply won't stand for it any longer!

I initially was a fan of the prime minister and Alliance, but these days I feel I have been...betrayed by his pro-corporate affinity. I don't blame AEDC or any Mahon pledger for the work they have to do to keep the power afloat, it's the hand that Frontier Developments gave them to play with. This "Human rights for all" business and then going "My triggers benefit solely from corporate control" make Mahon seem like Hudson with more sweetener to mask the bitter taste.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your experience Morlock. I've butted heads with several commanders myself. In reflection, it was mainly because I was somewhat astounded at the lack of intuition be many of the folks in charge.

Now that I'm in charge and running with like minded people, I'm enjoying the game a bit more. :) All these players are analyzing figures. Too many accountants, too few to no generals.

Harness your hate and join us! Help us free 300+ Federation worlds from their Corporate rule! :D

Threads like these kinda make you proud for being part of what got Mahon that position, even if you dont take part in PP anymore.

It's not us at AEDC anymore, PP is well and truly under AOS direction these days (they deserve the credit for Mahon's current success). Of course, a large coordinated attack on Mahon and every Alliance group comes running to his defence! Just like last time.

Although AEDC's primary faction is an Alliance Corporate, we have projects pushing Alliance factions of all government types. If it's green we support it whenever we get chance - variety of government is green spice :)

I have played for about a year, cleared one save at disgust with the engineers, but didnt finally quit until the decline of the mission system. If the missions were what it was a year ago i would probably still be playing and it was mostly fun when i did. I was hanging out with a couple of alliance groups on discord. Have fun :)

Well, in the years of PP the Alliance and other neutrals bar Delaine have gained due to exactly this fact, and that most warring is between these groups.

Occasionally they get a slap but its never followed up, and hence they recover. Consolidation only entrenches this further.

I recently found some old system data I had from the start of Powerplay, and this thread got me thinking about how Mahon’s demographics might have changed in the past couple of years. I expected to see the beautiful rainbow of oddball Alliance systems (Alliance Communism? Alliance Theocracy? Alliance ANARCHY?) smothered by the big grey Federal Corporate blanket, but that hasn’t been the case.

In fact, the proportions of Federation-controlled systems has gone down (approx. 50% to 31%), largely driven by the replacement of Federal and Independent Democracies with Alliance and Independent Corporations. The oddballs are still there, but they haven’t grown with the rest of Mahon’s portfolio. (The number of Alliance Communism systems have gone down, though. Is Communism Interstellar still a thing?)

As for system flipping, Mahon’s accomplishments are great, although I do consider Financial Control Ethos to be System Flipping on Easy Mode ;) Over a third of inhabited systems, regardless of superpower, started out Corporate and it’s a common controller for high-pop systems.

Since I'm technically a 'freelance' PP commander now, I can say that I'm a little disappointed that Mahon never actually used this and pressed for the 100% (unlike how Winters is now revving up again). The sheer amount of violence / persuasion it took to get Utopia utopian makes me jealous of that ethos.

Heh, honestly 100% flipped systems is a bit quixotic. Mahon flipped the system they actually fortify and left it there, which is a sensible use of resources. Antal pledges are nothing if not quixotic champions of the underdog, though!

What really disappoints me is Li Yong-Rui. I could never get any traction on system flipping with those guys, even though it was so easy and the power does basically nothing except fortify! Even after two years, barely anything is flipped and they actually threw in the towel and tossed away a load of good systems because they couldn’t be bothered to fortify that much! Mental.

Your professed reasons for hating the alliance are mysterious to me.

First place? In powerplay.... I have not really paid attention to that lately.
If I sign up again it will most likely be Imperial anyway. But I was always friendly or allied with all major factions.

Subjugated worlds? Federal worlds can fall in the influence sphere of Alliance control systems, but the same happens with alliance worlds in for example fed space and imp space I suppose. These worlds still are part of their main faction. I don't think these worlds should be considered subjugated. I think it is more about political influence.

I never was a PP fanatic although I managed to be rank 5 with my Imperial power for two or three weeks or so.
I then just couldn't do it anymore. The merit decay system felt insulting and broke my spirit.
I resigned.
I will be back after PP gets an overhaul. I think PP brings a lot of cool stuff to the table, and the potential to become more and better integrated is clearly present. It just needs a bit of work.
