I signed up to metacritic just to write a review and give my score for elite dangerous

Of course the review was glowing and I gave it 10/10

just with a mention of existing bugs and undeveloped multiplayer functionality.

But I also said this will come with updates/patches and expansions so the future looks bright

So you reviewed the game with disregard to existing bugs, and an anticipation of what you "think" it will be.

What will you rate it then when those things are fixed ? 12/10 ?

No offense to you, and glad you're enjoying the game, so am i.

But what you describe is the main reason why many people don't regard Metacritic as a valid indicator for anything.

Of course the same is true for the 0/10 people.

on metacritic, the most honest reviews are usually the middle ground ones. never bother reading the 10/10 or 0/10's

Aha but metacritic is an agregrate measure of many peoples opinions which sum up in a total rating which is indicative, generally, of how good a game is.
Besides, the writing is on the wall. Its fairly obvious where this game is going in terms of additional content.
