Just lost 6 million in credits!

> Dont persecute me for something in the game that is broken, its not my fault. <

It's not persecution. It's realization over the many years that Elite games will always
have bugs. The players incorporate them into the game play experience and thus
the "You should not have done that" replies. We get use to it. Hopefully they will fix
this one and make everyone happy.

It will prob. take awhile but let us know down the road if anything gets resolved, one way or the other. I'm curious. I sold my docking computer after using it for about 2 hours. Even on the easy platforms where there was no traffic, it kept auto taking over when I was close and at the correct speed and shot my up high above the landing pad and tilt me about 90 degrees and just float there. I'd take over and bring it back close and it would so the same thing again. Turned it off and sold it. No matter what anyone says in here for authenticity to 84 Elite or realistic computers, I'm sure FD would rather program a smarter auto-dock, period.

Yep, log a ticket they should be able to help out. I've not used the docking computer since it was first introduced for the very reason you mentioned. Until I see something announced that its been improved I'll stick clear of it ..... Plus it is quick to dock manually.

hope you get your credits back.

@Darian I have a HOTAS and Track IR, i can dock any ship easily, its dead easy to dock! Boosting in and boosting out, no problem. I did not hit any wall through careless ness, i was killed by a BUG, simple.
A bug that i can actually "show in action"! PROOF!

Anyhow ive had enough already talking to some of the users over here, ill post back when my support ticket is answered. My last support ticket didnt get answered, hopefully this one will.

You leave the docking computer in charge!
I never leave mine ive had a number of times when i have to take back control.
You deserve you fate.

lol too many fan boys blaming the victim on here.

The bottom line here is it's a feature that should work as advertised. So yes, as someone said, put in a ticket and I feel you should get your lost money back.

OP - you went AFK and left your expensive stuff unattended. You relied on a computer to dock a huge ship for you. You say this is the second time you have lost credits. In my opinion you have fallen victim of nothing more than not learning from one's mistakes.

Now please search my post history and talk to me about being a fan boy. One does not need to be a fan boy to know the OP made a booboo.

Because everyone here has played the previous games. You know, I have never even heard of the Elite series until I saw an ad on Facebook for this one after Thanksgiving of last year.

*waiting to get yelled at*

So you know about the bug and still went AFK? I am not sure how you expect this revelation to be seen as working in your favour?

I've got my popcorn ready for this one.

Reminds me of this meme lol

Like a lot of people have said here, yes ticket it. (which you have.)

But it IS possible that your ship was nudged by an NPC (or player) on the way in, which means it wouldn't be a bug. Either way, you've already said you've seen it go wrong, and there's really never a good time to let your ship fly itself without supervision. You knew that the docking computer was far from perfect, so while this is frsutrating I don't know why you're surprised by it

Either way - take the night off from the forums as well as the game. You're upset for a pretty decent reason (no matter what we may think of your attitude to the docking computer, it's a frustrating loss of credits) but your frustration is drowning out any real point you might be making. I certainly don't advise calling anyone who thinks you messed up on this one a fanboy and can't say that dismissing them out of hand is drawing much sympathy here.

To be fair, I didn't know that Elite wasn't a huge phenomenon in the US until last week. I grew up in the UK and it may as well be on the general education syllabus. It's easy to assume everyone else knows about it too.

The thing is, real life also has bugs...... without sounding apologetic for real bugs, sometimes things just go to poo.

I would love them not to but they do and it adds to the spice of things.

I loved it when the odd jump in Elite misjumped. Similarly recently when my controls malfunctioned or my voice attack went squiffy and deployed cargo scoop instead of balancing power.

Then there was this one occasion when my thumb went wrong and I boosted into the landing pad.

The universe of 3300 is just as buggy as real life. I bet the various shipyards have had as many safety recalls as Honda or Ford.

This isn't to say bugs aren't wrong and I don't wish they were gone but for me, is all part of the fun.

Ever since the docking computer in Beta tried to dock my Type 9 upside down, I have never trusted it. Dock manually and you won't have system failures like this.

IMHO computers make mistakes in real life why can't they in the game? The docking computer is too much like playing russian roulette: Sometimes you win, sometimes the better part of your higher intelligence gets smeared across the wall.

Sorry, you what? You were playing one of the games in the Elite series and left the docking computer unattended? Why?

Did you think they were foolproof? In the 1984 Elite it would probably have tried to fly a direct route to the station by going straight through the planet. You really should have learnt the first time you saw it screw up. It's an expensive lesson but at least you're not back in a Sidey. You've still got more money than me. :)

It wasnt nudged, it was sitting by the landing pad to the left struggling to just hit the middle spot as if its stuck. Like i said i can upload a video of the game breaking bug. If the docking computer dont work then take it out until it does work. Its an automated docking computer so it should be expected to "dock the ship".
