I think the problem with the hairdryer parking my cat was one related to the size of the hairdryer and how fluffy the cat was.

You had previously witnessed problems with the docking computer, yet you trusted it to behave unmonitored while you sought to relieve yourself.

lol too many fan boys blaming the victim on here.
The bottom line here is it's a feature that should work as advertised. So yes, as someone said, put in a ticket and I feel you should get your lost money back.
> Dont persecute me for something in the game that is broken, its not my fault. <
It's not persecution. It's realization over the many years that Elite games will always
have bugs. The players incorporate them into the game play experience and thus
the "You should not have done that" replies. We get use to it. Hopefully they will fix
this one and make everyone happy.
@Darian I have a HOTAS and Track IR, i can dock any ship easily, its dead easy to dock! Boosting in and boosting out, no problem. I did not hit any wall through careless ness, i was killed by a BUG, simple.
A bug that i can actually "show in action"! PROOF!
Anyhow ive had enough already talking to some of the users over here, ill post back when my support ticket is answered. My last support ticket didnt get answered, hopefully this one will.

Because everyone here has played the previous games. You know, I have never even heard of the Elite series until I saw an ad on Facebook for this one after Thanksgiving of last year.
My cat has a great sense of balance. He could dock a Viper no problem, if I ever let him get near the computer that is.
IMHO computers make mistakes in real life why can't they in the game?
Like a lot of people have said here, yes ticket it. (which you have.)
But it IS possible that your ship was nudged by an NPC (or player) on the way in, which means it wouldn't be a bug. Either way, you've already said you've seen it go wrong, and there's really never a good time to let your ship fly itself without supervision. You knew that the docking computer was far from perfect, so while this is frsutrating I don't know why you're surprised by it
Either way - take the night off from the forums as well as the game. You're upset for a pretty decent reason (no matter what we may think of your attitude to the docking computer, it's a frustrating loss of credits) but your frustration is drowning out any real point you might be making. I certainly don't advise calling anyone who thinks you messed up on this one a fanboy and can't say that dismissing them out of hand is drawing much sympathy here.
To be fair, I didn't know that Elite wasn't a huge phenomenon in the US until last week. I grew up in the UK and it may as well be on the general education syllabus. It's easy to assume everyone else knows about it too.
