Just lost 6 million in credits!

always use DCs... 100% reliable for me in all situations. but it is inclined to be a tad random and i dont usually leave it unattended. and certainly not if im in an expensive ship and carrying a massive cargo. its all about risk management innit

"The 9000 series is the most reliable computer ever made. No 9000 computer has ever made a mistake or distorted information. We are all, by any practical definition of the words, foolproof and incapable of error."

You have the V1.05 Computer.

I hope your name's not Dave.

There are some real nasty people around here. It's sad that since I have joined ED. Most of the good people have left. Only a few of us left. For now...

The DC is a joke! It does not matter if you watch it or not. Three times my ship just stopped in the middle of the letterbox. No traffic (solo) and controls went dead every time. Nothing you could do. Timer then speeds up and death. It's a nasty bug. Credit to ED as the first time it happened they gave me back my credits. Those were the good days.

A month ago it happened again. I still used the DC as I was confident ED would give back any credits. But this time I am on ignore. Lost something like 20 mil due to DC and credits disapearing or cargo simply going awol. Really no joy for me at the moment. Had to sell my Conda (oh no!!!!) and lost many millions trying to get back to my conda. Very frustrating stuff. And I still love the sim. But I have gone from several hours a day to not playing anymore. It's the lack of support I miss. Hope they get on top soon.

I would say just ignore the ideots. Don't even reply to them. But the advise to never leave the sim until you have safely docked is a good one. And I believe we have a big update coming soon and hope they get the baseline up to a fair standard.

So, you have done the right thing sending in a ticket. The chances are you will get your credits back but I doubt I will get mine. No problem. I will go with all the other good people and find something better to do with my time.

Goods luck and hope you get your credits back soon. ED is a great sim and one day I am sure it will be ready for the masses.

Thanks Papa.
Video evidence will be live in about 20 mins, link is here below, sometimes the docking computer does what it does in the video until station defenses destroy you as you run out of time!
Or the ship will remain to the left as it is in the video but continuously bang into the floor trying to reach the center with no success, the end result being that the station defenses destroy you once again.
I lost 6 million credits because of this bug! Whether im at my PC or not at my PC, its a docking computer that should "Dock your ship" no matter what.
This seems to happen more when your ship is fully laden or full of cargo more than when its unladen or no cargo.
Anyhow Goodnight, i have to be up for work in less than 6 hrs, what a waste of a night tbh, not happy at all considering i paid £200 ie Kickstarter backer from day 1 and im going to be tired in the morning all because of this game and my passion to get things sorted out.

The dark side has the upper hand! The meanies have taken over. >cackle<

If I need a pee, I park perpendicular to the toast rack, set video to record, go do the do and come back to dock. Then, when away from home, watch docking shenanigans by PC and NPC alike at double speed. With Benny Hill music.

ROFL, God I miss Benny

Seriously, do not leave your computer while the ship flies itself.

Let's imagine the docking computer worked perfectly every time. no bugs, no glitches, no nudges. So you line up to the station and go to the bathroom.

And as you do, here come I in an Imperial clipper rocking an A7 shield and deciding that it's probably more fun to go straight through you. Now admittedly I'm not likely to do that to you or anyone, but these things happen. If you're not at the controls, what happens?

My point throughout has been this - it doesn't matter if it's bugged or flawless. what you're expecting the DC to do is going to cause heartache.

I just moved my workstation into the bathroom. Problem solved...
Only problem now is the ring around Uranus

Do a search of the forums about the docking computer. It's been known since back in Beta. It's done this the same way. It's about 50% reliable, but you should Never leave it unsupervised. You'll find if you do the search, it's the same all the time. This is known, it's not a bug, it's just how it works. This game is not for those who want automatic everything, it's a sim for those who want hands on.

Good luck, but I seriously doubt you'll get your credits back, especially due to the fact that you stated clearly that you went AFK.

Sorry you lost a lot, but seriously, everyone should know by now to not let a docking computer dock for you.

Do it yourself - a bit of practise and it's easy enough. If you need to go to the loo, do it once your ship is safe on the pad.

Well for the second time now ive lost credits, this time i was in a Type 7 with 16 million minus 3 million in cargo which takes it down to 13 million. Anyhow i made the distance to were i was going and i set the dockling computer to dock, however ever when i came back from the toilet the ship was huddled next to the landing pad "struggling" to dock which is a bug ive noticed. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it dont. Anyhow before i could react i was blown up by the defenses in the station and respawned but i know only have like 11 million!!

Im really annoyed with this as its the second time its happened, is there anyway to get my credits back as i spent 3 evenings after work getting that 6 million. Really really angry and deflated as i fell like im running an uphill all the time. Was gonna buy my ASP back tonight and kit it out but because of LAME BUGS.....YES BUGS now i cant. If the docking computer does not work then bloody remove it until its does work!!!

Can anyone offer some advice as how to get my credits back, will they reimburse me? Im done playing tonight and tbh im losing patients with this game as i feel cheated.

Docking AI updates have been confirmed in another thread somewhere so it should get better in one of the updates (hopefully also no more Type-9's stuck to the toaster rack)

Anyway, as many said before me, don't leave an automated system to do your job when you *know* its flawed. In the mean time, flog a ticket towards Frontier. If they're nice, they'll refund you.

I think FD should fine pilots who demand refunds for silly mistakes like leaving your seat while undocked to do pee pee... Or poo poo...

Set docking computer going and hit the sys screen then watch the ship land on it's side...... Luckily I was just using the DC to allow me to eat/drink... I've removed the DC now and I have an empty space where it was. It also tried playing ping pong with my Cobra around the inside of the station. If an NPC hits your ship whilst you go into the letterbox it can't handle it...... Saying that though it's the year 3500 why the hell couldn't they have had an entrance AND and exit !

Well getting blown up by the docking computer 1 time, well that happens. but using it again while you leave the PC seems abid.... miau ^_^

Next time just let the ship wait outside the station, if ur in solo that is. or just exit to the menu.

That is wasted space man and sacrilegious..get some beers in there quick!

Ugh, those make my trigger finger itch - can't even push them out of the way 'cause they're entangled like fish in a net.

Here is a video for all the posters who say its my fault...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL2XnYkTiMw

In there eyes its still my fault yet its BLATANT that there is bug that needs fixing.
I can keep posting videos all day long, bottom line is its a Bug and only Frontier Development team can fix it.
The Docking computer does not work as it should therefore...
1. Remove it.

2.Fix it quickly.

I want my 6 million credits back please, i dont get all hours of the day to sit on this game as i have to go to work unlike some people.

Noone is saying that it is your fault. What many, myself included would object to is the tone of your posting. Human nature being what it is, we tend to respond like with like...

My response was and is that i fit a docking computer on all my ships as a first requirement and have used it with no problems whatsoever having used it to dock thousands of times. No problems. Ever. It does have a tendency to sometimes slide to the left and have to shuffle its way back but i think thats kind of endearing. So for me the docking computer is NOT broken and does not have to be fixed by FD. I have no evidence of this but i suspect that there is some element of pilot error here which is not actually the fault of the DC

Im sure that those awfully nice FD people will look on your case favourably and restore your lost credits and we will all live happily ever after. Perhaps time to dry your tears and move on

With all the posts on the forums that talk about DC quirks, it stands to reason that, anyone that uses one, should be at the controls to monitor it, and take over if the DC doesn't perform 100%. Even real life pilots don't leave an plane on auto pilot for a landing, and they don't leave it on auto pilot without someone to attend it during flight, incase the unexpected happens.

<rp>
All I saw in the video is pilot error. I do not see the pilot being reimbursed for their own negligence.

I know that sounds harsh, but it's what the video shows. Relying on a computer to do the job of a man, replacing the man, for such a critical process as landing a multi-million credit vehicle, is inexcusable. It's been well known since the early 21st century, that computers cannot replace humans in critical tasks. It's a wonder that no station workers were killed or injured due to this tragic incident.
</rp>

I don't see a bug here.
