Just lost my size 8 prismatic shields while switching between ships..

Rip prismatic cutter 2k16

4 weeks of painful interdictions start today!

You will get them. Like myself waiting patiently and raging when getting interdicted right before being able to drop somewhere.

Peace

Actually I did get them, but I thought I lost them again when I'd left the faction and attempted to move the size 8 once between ships (I have 2 of every kind in Shinrata except the size 8s because I'm never going to need 2 of those and they're 220 million). However, it was just a slip up (hence I deleted my original message), I managed to find them again and don't have to wait another 28 days :) Now I'm busy getting interdicted for the Imperial Hammers. Another day in power play... LOL.

Sorry for your loss OP. I'm curious though, where can I see an interesting Cutter build with prismatic shielding ?

I actually play PP for the interdictions... I fly a cutter and have access to Prismatics but find it better to use 8A regular or bi weaves due to weight and power consumption.

And if you plan on using anything other than pulse lasers and 3 kinetics, you actually can get the 8A higher than the Prismatics.

Yes I've switched away from size 8 prismatics on the cutter now (that was what I was doing when I thought i'd lost them). The base shield size isn't that important anyway, the clincher is the number of accessible shield cell banks so often it's worth sacrificing base shield to get more. Prismatics are about the same efficiency as 8A shields but with built in boosters + the consumption so they are good if you want more utility slots free (e.g. for lots of heat sinks).

I'm getting prismatic shields so that I can get more heatsinks on my Corvette. When I get a cutter its going to be a triple (or quad) bank active tanking ship.

This is just my take as to when I choose Prismatics (but, this does not apply to the Python). I prefer Prismatics in the slot lower than maximum both for trader and combat builds. The reason why is that it frees up you biggest slot for cargo or shield cell banks. In the combat build, it can give you near full charges and bail ya out of the Oh, Carp moments.

Everyone may not agree, but that's where you will see them in any of my builds; except for the Python. The Python has SOooooi much energy to spare that you can max it without gimping a sound weapons loadout.

Oh, and when Prismatics go down, they take an eternity to come back online; which has made me shy away from them when doing strict combat.

Yep, that's exactly how I have the Corvette, 4 SCBs active, 4 heat sinks and a 7A prismatic. I also downgrade the thrusters (since you can't catch anything anyway) so that I can have decent weaponry too..
