Just ordered the tobii eyex

I think mine arrives today.
Someone suggested on either this forum or the Tobii one to bind the same button to re-centre as to the headlook but I don't have the Tobii software to yet to try this. I assume there is a re-centre key in the Tobii software. The problem is that my headlook is on by X52pro so this would not work. If not maybe just a button on the keyboard, I use F12 for re-centre on my EDTracker.

Your X52 Software lets you program keys/ buttons - so if your Head look is the "E" button on the throttle (mine is by default), just set a normal keyboard key for it, then use the software to program the "E" button to that new key and set it in game. Job done :)

Or get voice attack and really immerse yourself. ;)

All public versions of the Infinite Screen Extension does this. This is only a problem if your using VJoy or a another tool based on VJoy, such as Universal Joystick Remapper, for your controller setup.

There are no problems using the EyeX together with the Saitek-X55 and/or an xbox controller (as it happens, that is the exact same setup that I have office so it's been tested quite thoroughly :)).

I just unpacked my Tobii eyex last night...went through the setup and installed all drivers, but now my Xbox One controller does not work. I can get the controller to work in the xbox glass app, but when I go to E:D, nothing. I can select controller pad options, but none of the buttons work (running Windows 10).
I re-installed the Xbox drivers, but nothing. Anyone else run into this problem? Anyone have possible fixes?

I just received mine. Quite pleased with how easy the setup was as I was up and running in less than 10 minutes. I did find that I needed to pull my monitor about 5 cm closer to me but no problem there. I can tell that I'll want to adjust the sensitivity and I've begun to tinker, but a bit more will be needed to suit me.

The one issue I'm having is that when I switch to headlook mode initially, I am immediately focused far to one side of the screen. Almost always far left. I can of course quickly get to center, but see no reason why this should be the case. I'm searching for a setting that will correct this and always enter the mode centered, but would appreciate tips if anyone has experienced this and resolved it. I'll add the solution here myself if I find it.

To sum up my first impression, this is great. Exactly what I hoped for. It's my first venture into head/eye tracking so I have nothing to compare it to. It certainly seems that EyeX and Elite Dangerous were made for each other.

Any tips or step by step guide?

I just received mine in the post.

Real quick question based on some stuff I've read.

So can you always look around and fly your ship at the same time? Or is it like the current mechanic where you "unlock" your head, and then can only look around without steering your ship? If that's the case, then I fear I may have wasted some money. I want to be able to fly and look, not one or the other.

I take it you didn't watch the video by Obsidian Ant;

Today I was contacted by Emelie Nystrom from Tobii dev team, they are sending me another USB cable. Hopefully, this is going to solve the issue. And to answer the question - not each USB cable will make EyeX work. Tried another one that I have and it does not work properly, EyeX considers that it is plugged in USB 2.0 port, whereas actually USB 3.0 port is in use.

Ordered: January 29
Ship notification: February 9
Scheduled delivery: February 11

I took Friday off for giggles (to play XCOM, let's be honest), and now I should have a new toy to play with as well! Good timing!

OK, just got it set up and working.

Set up was simple-ish, plug it in and install the software. It initially clashed with my Anti-Virus (Avira), with a false positive warning and then failure to initialise until I disabled the Anti-Virus realtime scan. Now its set up there seems to be no further issue with keeping the real time scan enabled.

I think I am stretching its capabilities with a 40" screen - calibration was difficult, with me needing to both lower my chair to its lowest setting and lean forward much more than I would normally. I adjusted the screen calibration to make the EyeX 'look' smaller than it really is which seems to improve things. First launch of E: D threw an error from Infinite Screen (Invalid URI), but on closing and relaunching E: D it seems to work fine.

So, now its set up it seems to work OK. I'm not convinced its as precise as a head tracker ... but then I'm not wearing anything strapped to my head and I can follow objects while flying around them without too much difficulty. More time needed to get fully comfortable with it I think.

I need some help,

I got my ex and the Demo and Driver works fine. BUT: I cant install this stupid Tobii screen extension, because the vjJoy installer stops in the middle of the bar.

Please say, that i am stupid, because I dont know, how to run this kit in the game

Win 7 64, i7, 16 GB, HD 7950, SSD 512, x52 Pro

Got mine today as well, setup and installed relatively easily.
Had to 'fight' a little to get it set for head-track in ED though, kept registering a Z-axis rather than the Y-axis I was aiming for - I'm assuming I'm not missing anything in having to manually set my head-look x/y axis by clicking the bind and then looking left/right and up/down to set as required?

Also using a 40" screen here and can get it too work pretty good with the gaze up to the corners - I didn't mount the bar on my monitor though. Firstly, their mounting solution is not the best idea, especially if your monitor already has an angled bottom bezel like the small piece on mine. Secondly, I didn't really want to stick a a small metal piece on my monitor where it would have obscured the led. Also, I found that the range wasn't the best for my usual position in my chair with stick/throttle at my sides.

So... the bar is currently blu-tac'd to the top of the little screen on my G19 keyboard. Not ideal but works better for now in putting it closer to my face and probably making the angles I'm looking for a 40" screen actually appear like a smaller screen.

My second slight criticism would be their choice of cable. Why such a stiff USB cable? The bar is really light so has to be held firm in whatever fashion, the torque the heavy weight cable puts on it just adds to the mounting requirement. Has anyone tried another mini USB cable, a right angle connector would have been better too, and possibly USB micro rather than mini. I have a few USB mini cables knocking around but they are a bit short - may try hanging it off the USB 3 hub on my monitor.

Noticed a couple of small threaded holes on the bottom, are these for some sort of weighted stand perhaps?

I wonder why they went with LEDs that emit light in the visible spectrum instead of using IR LEDs. Anybody know why that is?

If you run into vJoy installation issue just try installing it several times. Try launching Screen Extension installation to uninstall vJoy, restart you computer, and try installing it again. At some point it is going to install correctly. It is the issue with vJoy installation. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes you have this bug.

I was wondering about mounting it on 'something' closer too. Just no idea what that 'something' would be. As you say it would need to be sturdy because of the highly inflexible USB cable it uses. I'm getting a monitor stand to lift my screen up by 10cm or so as I think that will suit the angle it needs better - due to having a corner desk this will mean that the front edge of the stand will stick out a bit further forward than the screen ... maybe I'll try that

good point well made. And I have voice attack already!

Yep. The two threaded brass inserts on the bottom are clearly meant for some kind of permanent attachment - question is, to what...?

Just tried an old USB mini cable I had in my box of cables - doesn't work, sees it as a USB 2 connection - anyone know of USB 3 certified USB mini cables? Preferably right angled...

Edit: USB 3 mini cables are out there - superspeed graded for older external hard drives etc. - trouble is, the cables look just as thick... I'd settle for just right angled then... :)

fly and look mate....just like all the head trackers.

Thanks a lot for your kind help!

I tryed this before, but it wont work.

BUT: I found my solution:

Just disconnect your Saitek X52 until install.... You will lose your Joystick settings (not in the game, but in Windows)

After that it worked fine...

Well, that´s the problem, if you have too much toys

It probably could have worked without disconnecting your joystick. As I said sometimes it installs sometimes not, I could not find any dependence.
