Just Purchased EDO and Elite on Steam, Its on sale!

NOW WHAT?
Purchased EDO on sale. Elite was only $7 so I got it too... thinking, "I'll just create an alternate account to experience space legs NOW, Yipeee!!
But now I'm not so sure that will work if/when I want to use "this" copy of elite when my console CMDR/profile is transferred to PC later.
So now what?

1) Attempt to log in with the same email used for my xbox elite account? What will that do to my xbox account?
2) Create new account? My bet is then, my steam purchase is tied to that this new account and I would either have to buy a new version of elite/EDO later.
3) Wait and do nothing? Will my purchase of elite on steam still be valid in a years time if I don't log in.

You will get a copy of horizon if you transfer your console cmdr. That copy will need to be upgraded to odyssey if you want legs

I do not understand your other questions.

The account can merge in-terms of purchased cosmetics etc but you won't be able to merge your save data. If you want to transfer your Commander data on console to an already existing account on PC, you'll have to delete the Commander save data that already exists on that account on PC.

If you'd rather keep both, you can create a new Frontier account using a different email address during the transfer process that will give you a free copy of Horizons on PC, that your console Commander data will be transferred to.

This makes no sense. Why?

Just to clear up anything...if you own the game on Xbox, In September you would only need to submit in whatever way they ask, to have you Xbox account copied over.
This gives you the full game minus Odyssey for PC.

FYI: You're getting a non-steam version via Frontier.
If you go buy a Steam version and odyssey...IDK how that works trying to get the Steam Odyssey to use your Frontier copied version later.

I know I have to delete my save on the Frontier version but keep Odyssey access.

It makes perfect sense. No one has said the free copy will direct from fontier. Frontier themselves has recently gotten back to and said this process is evolving. It may be a partner key. Either way, your elite account, once on pc, can be used to log into another version of elite, i.e. purchased through the epic or steam store.

They actually said it will be a Frontier Account.
You can then link that account to Steam if you want, but if you want an Epic account, you need to purchase Elite on Epic and forfeit the free Frontier Horizons

It literally says that on the FAQ

go to my post here (link) with all the details on this Xbox forum. Your may be creating a situation for yourself that could have been avoided.

FYI Steam often gets updates a day later than Frontier accounts due to the launchers.

I would keep EDO and get a refund on Elite, as when you transfer your Xbox account over to PC, you get that one for free.

So wrong. Normally the Steam players are telling us how big the updates are that they are downloading while the fdev launcher is still denying it is available.

Edit: And even then it is only a matter of minutes.

This is false. In the 4 years I’ve been playing the Steam version updated at exactly the same time as the Frontier launcher.

Seems this is no longer an issue.
