Just sold my Python to get back into my Clipper.

lol i bought the python a little to soon (had enough for insurance and that was it) but i went back to clipper to get enough for insurance and few upgrades and enough for full cargo ^^

I'm not at python level of $$, but I have done this for every ship I've bought so far including type7. I'm too impatient.

When i bought my conda I only had 700k left over. However the conda isn't like the other ships when it comes to setting up for trading. I was able to outfit it for trading at 452 tons with shields and still have 700k for cargo. From there i'm back up to 10 million and i've bought a few upgrades for it so since yesterday I went from around 700k + a conda to roughly 18 million. This ship just makes credits. Which is good because it's top class A grade Components are ridiculously expensive.

And yes i was incredibly nervous flying without insurance and only 700k to my name. But I had my Conda and I didn't care. plus it also added a level of excitement to the game I haven't felt in awhile.

Oh and if you're scratching your head on how i kitted the conda for trucking without spending my 700k. The starting components for the conda are expensive themselves. which allowed me to downgrade to cheaper components and have some credits to reshuffle for trucking components. really surprised me because none of the other ships are like this.

happily sold my *insert f word here* python and trade now with a Type9 for Fer-de-Lande, maybe Vulture or Clipper for Civil Wars (cheers to AEDC) and Anaconda. I hate the python that much (for combat), won't buy it even when i have enough money to buy every ship.
Just nerfed to death (for combat)

Shield nerf was fine. They went overboard with the turn rate nerf. And i hope FDev revisits this.

what are the dimensions of these ship anyway? length width and beam.

Don't really have exact measurements but there is a nifty picture floating around that kind of gives a sense of scale.

I hate to say it but if you think the python sucks at combat the problem isn't the ship but the one controlling it. The only real weakness the python has is it's speed and repair costs. The repair costs will be drastically lower in 1.2 so that leaves only one weakness. If your opponent runs away count it as a win because it is.

Like i said, I used the python as a trader more than anything. And I wasn't enjoying myself in it so i moved back to a clipper.

Now I'm in the Anaconda.

Let me recap. I went from a clipper to a python then back to a clipper for the fun factor. Then went from a clipper to a T9 for the profit factor. Then went back to a python to be somewhere in the middle of the fun factor and profit factor. All in all, I'd say I wasted maybe 10 million CR switching between those ships but the experience I gained was good. Helps you gain a since of perspective and helps give you an idea of what you really wanna fly when you've flown it all.

I'll by buying certain ships to start my fleet but the only Time I'll be stepping out of my Anaconda is when its into a Federal corvette.

I checked the python in combat vs. all kinds of ships. Its even good vs other pythons because they have the same problems. Sorry, I prefer Cobras, Clipper very much over that slow piece of astro-garbage and Anaconda is another league (if a player controlles it). I know how to fly the ships, but this is just hitting by the nerfbat, sadly...

So you would discourage me jumping from the Clipper to the Python... Is it maybe better to buy a T9 and get the cash fast to full upgrade a Clipper (until Mirrored + A7 Shields I mean) instead of doing it more slowly in a Python? Even considering more profitable routes that involve outposts?

at the moment I have a 60M Clipper and about 20M Cr. And I am getting bored as hell over the same route since one month.

BUT - but, the Clipper can not land on outposts. This is the major drawback (and it's sluggish, so it doesn't have anything over the Python)

They promised that the Python would go through another pass for balance (so much for promises) The reclassifying the Python as a trader is a joke (very bad joke) as the setup of the Python is the same or better than the dedicated fighters that are coming into the game.

With the Python's agility slower than the Anaconda's ( I'm speaking of all A-Equipment, that's all I fly) It's clear they will either nerf the Anaconda, do nothing, or give the Python some meaningless perk like more power. I think it's time FD un-nerf the Python's agility and speed a bit and stay true to their word.

This guy.....lol

Having just got my Clipper, I agreed that the outpost thing it a pain and takes some getting used to.

It also sounds a little tortured when transitioning from super-cruise but the noise it makes when you give it the beans, my god!!

I don't get the 'can land at outpost' benefit. I guess if you're doing missions, then yes, it's a huge benefit.

It is not for trading though. You may find a one way small outpost trade, but there's never a two way that gets you 2000 c/t two way trip. It usually ends up 1100 or 1200 from the small outpost, but only 4 or 500 on the trip back. Still less than the 2000+ you can find at large outposts, since the small outposts never buy anything worth trading. I went from a T7 to a Python, and still do ALL my trading at large outposts.

I do recommend going T7-Python-T9/Anaconda though. Give the Python a try. Swap out a shield for a cargo slot when you want to fight and add a scoop. Then swap back when you want to trade.

I traded with the Python because of around 20% more cargo BUT the fuel costs are much higher than with a clipper... When you have a good trade route to grind its not that far to get a Type9, you don't need mirrored Hull (lower range) and A7 Shields (too expensive)

Even though it might cost you some credits do to downgrading i say give the python or T9 a try and see if you like it. Some players love the T9 because of how it flies/looks other hate it. Some just don't care either way, they think it's making them the most credits per hour and that's all they care about.

I want a mixture. and it took me flying the clipper, python, type 9 to realize that i want something fun to fly, something that makes me a load of credits. The T9 is on one end of the spectrum and the Clipper is on the other. The python is in the middle. And the Anaconda is the best of both world in my opinion.
