Just to confirm, Restore Power Missions still wonky?

Tried several restore missions in Nu Guang system, same problem, base already active, they give me level 3 access, walk into the power generator, level 3 needed, take a look and bang, your dead by a plethora of guards that won't take "BUT I WAS SENT HERE TO HELP" for an answer. That's about 8 different locations here. I have to assume other players are activating them and it's just not registering. And a fine for daring to get killed for doing the mission (thanks a lot).

I guess just find out how much onionhead they need, huh?

Yeah, for bases that are in the systems in recovery state (after Thargoid invasion) it's a good practice to check system map before taking the mission - if the target base is still in "abandoned" state (with an "x" on the base icon).

That's the odd part. A number of them have the X on it but I've started checking in the nav map for each base they want activated and just about all of them indicate "status: active." I listed the ones still marked "status: abandoned" but no one is handing out a mission to reactive them. I had hoped something would have reset itself after the Thursday morning tick but I guess not.

Also noted several reactivation missions repeated, sometimes up to three times in a row, slightly different rewards for the exact same base to be reactivated. Do these left hands know what their right and middle hands are doing?

That usually means that ALL Odyssey-type are already active (and all missions to them are meaningless), but all legacy-type (old Horizons style) settlements are still marked as abandoned.

That's normal - once you take one of them all the others targeting the same settlement will be grayed-out ("destination conflict")

PS: If you want restore missions in the "recovery" systems check the systems on their first weekly tick of recovery

Ok, well, I found a system that has "base abandoned" all over the place so I'll head that way later tonight and do those tomorrow. Thanks for the clarification. I like to mix things up a bit and not just to one type of mission all the time and was getting a little miffed at the confusion with legacy and live stuff.

Got it. Thanks for your help. 🍺

<sfx=detective_colombo> Uh, just one more thing. I did manage to try out a restore mission this evening. Landed, dismissed ship, ran to the currently dead settlement, found the power system. Noticed ships flying around, noticed messages about patrols. Managed to get the thing powered up. Left to go out and recall the ship. Some chick with a blaster "What are you doing???" and starts shooting. Died, mission "failed."<sfx/>

I assume some rival faction wants the site for themselves. Would be nice if the faction that gave you the mission just kind of mentioned "Oh, by the way, there's a rival faction that wants control, so, have your weapon ready."

I guess if I see ships flying overhead, be ready to blast my way out, huh?

<rant>Now I have to wait for my ship to show up at the prison ship so I can go back home and grumble at someone about successfully getting the place powered up for them but don't get paid for it because I didn't make it out alive.</rant>

Well, some AX ships flying around is normal for all settlements/ports in a system in a recovery state. They do not interfere if you are not shooting settlement at defences (and never support you in your fight against pirates).
The unpowered settlement could be either deserted or there could be scavs - either mission related (in this case you'll receive notification in advance) or just some random ones at the very beginning. In the latter case I usually check the srv's contact panel before approaching the settlement.

Yes, it did show AX ships flying around the area on my ships sensors, but I didn't use an SRV this run. Wasn't shooting at anything, either. The only thing I heard was "What are you doing?" followed by shots. They COULD have done a scan first to see if I was doing something bad (Hint: Frontier) before firing off a warning shot into my chest. Could have said "thank you" for turning the power back on before shooting me. :sneaky:

btw, if there is a fully functional port in a system that is in the recovery state then it have two different sets of power restore missions - one from the on board/missions/operations and the other from the "on foot" mission terminals. That's quite handy when searching for particular mats

Thanks. Also noted there's two versions of them: one where the hand you the power regulator and one where you have to FIND a power regulator. Gee, with that choice I wonder which one most people will choose. :giggle:

Just noticed yesterday that i can pickup on-foot restore missions from on-ship mission board -which is extremely handy
But even more handy, it seems the 2 mission boards do output 2 different set of missions, so it's really worth checking the other board too if not getting the material rewards you are looking for...

Quite often there is a mission like "find..." regulator with a reward of 5 regulators and another one "turn on" (i.e. regulator provided) with a reward of 4 regulators=) So they are essentially same.

Yeah, that's what I'm speaking of. In fact as some post-thargoid recovery systems do not have fully functional ports, and those still under repair do not have the disembark option - so on-board/missions/operations is the only way to get restore missions there (well, except taking them from nearby systems, which isn't really reliable)
