Keeping record?

Yes, the long loading times of large databases can make the CL experience jarring, but if you check the Captain's Log thread, you'll see that the next version due to be released soon apparently fixes that problem by drastically reducing loading times. I can't wait as my current database is over 6000 systems, as you can imagine in it's current state CL takes a while to load that up. But you may want to keep an eye on the new version, with fixed loading times the main flaw of the program will be gone. Should be released soon.

Thanks, I'll look out for the new release & try it when I return from Beagle Point.

I had nearly 8000 systems in my database....it began to annoy me how slow it loaded & ran.

Not a lot for me, I do a screen shot of the 'interesting' things - ELW's mostly and I do keep count of how many ELW's and objects have my name on it - which I update when I sell the data, which currently stands at just over 21,000

I have a leather bound log book, and use the old fashioned pen and paper.

I just went out and bought a cheap college ruled notebook. You really need one, not just for exploring but also to keep track of trade, upgrades, RES sites, Rare goods, and a dozen other things. I used to have a small stack of notes on scraps of paper, but one day I sneezed...

I got the new release of EDDiscovery and have noticed it taking a long time to sync with EDSM if I have over 20 systems to sync. I don't know why. Sunday I had played for like 12 hours and had a LOT of systems to sync. I hit the sync button and waited and waited and then got fed up with it and got up and let it run. i don't know how long it took as I went and watched TV for a bit. It used to be faster than that though. Meh. I will still use it! I put in the interesting things I find and let the program itself gather any other info on its own.

I keep a log of CMDR's who keep logs. You have all been logged.

But really, life is too short, especially at my end of it and although I have used Captains Log, it became a job on its own and by the time we got to Beagle it took longer to load than the game. I have only ever taken two screenshots that I remember, one at DWE waypoint 2 and one proof shot at Beagle, what's the point? They aren't real.....or are they?
;)

We've not done anything that should make it slow down (if you've got 3.1.0 or later from here then it should sync each jump as it goes provided you have To EDSM checked).

Probably just a glitch in the network somewhere between you and EDSM.

I got the EDDiscovery 3.1.0 and it works MUCH faster! To bad it doesn't auto-update.

You people with your spreadsheets!! I am genuinely confused as to why people use them. They seems like so much more work to do than just jotting down systems that have something interesting in them. I can understand if you want a detailed accounting of your trip or you're going to do something like the StellarForge Analysis, but, just for     s and giggles? To much work! Makes it to much like a job for me.
